Question about 2007 GMC Yukon

1 Answer

I purchased a 2007 GMC Yukon 8/4cyl. the sticker milage is 14/19 and 16 mpg avg in town. I live in mid Fla. and discovered I only got around 14mpg avg in town and on the hwy around 15.5. I drove north to western NY for the summer and discovered my milage improved to 15.5/ 17.3 mpg even though I was driving on roads in mountianius areas, both in town and on hwy. Why more MPG up and down mountain roads? How do I improve the MPG in Florida.?

The sticker mileage of 14/19 is just an estimate based on a similar model that was tested for the purpose of advertising it for the model.

It is only a guideline and if one reads the fine print on the sticker, the claims are considered to be that and only that.

That gasoline that you were using in NY may be different than in Florida since different areas of the country have different suppliers and formulas, also, different seasons can have different formulations of gasoline content.

One can get new tires that have gas savings advertised for them, like Goodyear has.
Or, I know that gas mileage decreases on my Cadillac if I don't use high octane Super which is recommended for it (this may not apply for your GMC Yukon).

Does your GMC Yukon accept E85? Sometimes gasoline used in some areas has more ethanol like up to 10% or now up to 15% is being proposed by the legislature.

Also, the heat in FL vs. NY may make a difference.

That's all that comes to my mind for getting better MPG in Florida as compared to NY.

Burning too much gas

the only true way to check fuel economy is to fill tank drive till 1/4 full do this 10 times taking your milage reading before each refill
that will give you your average milage
now if you live in a hilly area and your up and down all the time that will also throw all stuff out the window and in order to get what the manufacturer suggests vehicle will do for avg milage is to go at a steady 30mph on a very slight banked oval tack that is basically flat That is how manufacturers of vehicles get the milage a vehicle will go per gallon

Purchased a 2011 Lincoln Hybrid in February. It took almost a month to get the car to even get past 25 mpg. I have driven it for 1700 miles now and it won't go past 32.6 mpg. I would think that if the...

You should have applied common sense & done more
research. Your lucky if you get 25 to 30 mpg anytime

It is all about advertising, to get your money, that's all,
no more. Never has been, with motor vehicles.

Every one buying any vehicle, knows you never get close
to the MPG on the window sticker. That is a corporate
AVG ,not what your car would get. Education !!!!

I have a 2007 GMC 1500 5.3 V8. Once I got 45,000

ever tuned it up? sounds like its due. plugs, wires, fuel filter (if equipped), PCV, and an intake system cleaning should restore your fuel economy to where you want it.

Poor fuel mileage

What is the mileage? "poor" is relative. What was the mileage in the past? what is the mileage now? where do you drive? how long? what speeds? weather?

Location of fuel filter The yukon turns over good but will not start.

Mid way the vehicle right or left side next to the door. Depending on the milage, the problem could be plugs, plug wire, fuel filter, idle air control valve, fuel injectors or disteributors. Purchase you a repair manual for the car, a good investment. .

2007 kia rondo seems to use alot of gas

I have the same issue of low gas mileage. My 2008 Kia Rondo with V6 (2.7Lt) gets 20-21 mpg in average. Even for highway mileage, it is around 21-22mpg. Very poor gas mileage. Disappointed. I hope it would improve in the future.

Poor gas milage

Not sure where you live but if the gas you get has a higher amount of ethanol in it you will get worse gas milage. But there are many reasons that effect gas millage.
