What is the recommended oil to use in 2006 XJ8L Jaguar that has 52,000 miles. I currently use Castrol but I can't remember the wt. I would like to get more mileage before the next oil change, so what...

I switched to a full synthetic oil, and never looked back. You can get 10000 miles out of full synthetic easily. Some people say you never have to change it, but i go 10000 and have for 90,000 miles and still runs smooth as the day i bought it. Castrol Syntec is a very good synthetic oil.

Jaguar recommends Castrol brand oil with the following comments:
5W30 is the 'preferred' weight to use for the best fuel economy, however, it's recommended to use when the outside temp is between -31 degrees F and +95degrees F. So if you live in a hot climate, they recommend 0W40, for temps between -31F and +122F, or 5W40 for temps between -22F and +122F. I'm not sure of their recommendation for how often to change the oil, but 3K miles or twice a year (whichever comes 1st) is the way to go. countrycurt0
