SOURCE: location of iac valve f150 5.4 triton

This particular vehicle does not have an IAC valve. This is because it is equipped with ETC (Electronic Throttle Control). This means there is no mechanical connection between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. Instead, the throttle plate is controlled by an electric motor to control its engine speed, based on "input" it receives from the PCM. The accelerator pedal is connected to three poteniometers. Two that increase, and one that decreases voltage in a particular proportion. If they fail, the vehicle goes into what's called a "forced idle" mode of operation. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm

Most likely the throttle body gasket (between the throttle body and the intake manifold) is leaking.

SOURCE: High Idle

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima and mine did the same thing. We replaced the intake gasket. It costs around $5.50, but it requires several different kinds of tools. We spent over $100 in special sockets, etc. But once you replace that gasket, it will idle better.

SOURCE: IAC control valve. Locato\ion 2002 ford escape

If it's not idling and has problems starting, it's probably the IAC motor. It's located on the throttle body. Follow the airfilter box all the way to the engine, where the rubber flex hose attaches. The throttle body should be the first aluminum part you come to. Attached to the side you'll find small little aluminum part with a small wire harness attached. Unplug it, take the IAC motor off and clean inside with carb cleaner. This should fix the problem with the idle.

The item in question is call Idle Air Control (IAC).
This unit function is to do fine idle trimming at idle.
IAC is located near the end of the accelerator cable.
It move internally with a worm gear to adjust idle.

You will need a friend to friend to test IAC.
Start engine and turn on all electrical items.

Carefully listen for movement at IAC.

Check for cable disconnection / damage at IAC.

Iac valve

it is located on the top of the engine, mounted either on the side or top of the throttle body (close to where the throttle cable hooks up) should have a small connector on it with 2 or 3 wires

IAC (idle air control valve.

it located on top of the throttle body by the EGR. controls egr flow for idle. Two 10mm bolts come out, unclip connector...clean internals with WD-40 holding the unit in a way that the fluid won't run into the solenoid. carfully work the valve on the IAC to free it up, replace....see what happens. takes 5 mins, good place to start.

When started idels high about 2000 rpm then drops when hot cold ?

the iac probably has carbon built up around it this controls the idle speed try cleaning it first,if not it could be a bad iac or a vaccum leak that the iac takes some time to compensate for to control idle.

Check your Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) to see if it's working ok, and set your idle hard stop.
