will the engine start and run for one or two seconds? If so check the crank position sensor.

If you try to start it can you see the engine turning over via watching the belt turn or is the belt barely moving or not moving? Just trying to get an idea of which solution may best fit your issue.

If engine is barely moving when trying to crank it over try removing the serpentine belt and then manually turning the engine over at the crankshaft. If you then can manually turn the vehicle over with the belt off check all the pulleys that the belt rides on too see if any pulleys that will not turn. If all pulleys are turning relatively freely. The upper intake may be leaking coolant into one or more cylinders which is hydrolocking the engine. Let me know so we can choose of course of action to proceed with.

I have a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville that is shutting off while I am driving. It eventually starts but it happens over and over. I changed the fuel relay switch but it still happens. what next?

How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes free. Does it stall at idle or going down the highway?
With extended crank, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and check fuel injector pulse.

If injector pulse is missing when problem is ongoing, two things I think of, do you have an rpm signal and security system where applicable. The rpm signal comes from crank sensor. Intermittent problems can be a pain to track. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.

My wife was driving her 97 bonneville she said it lost all power smoked really bad and barely made it off the road i cramked it over and it wasnt even trying to start would it be fuel or timing

Fuel or timing would not explain the smoke.
Start by checking fluids.
Then do compression check.
Watch for cam so that you can see if timing belt thrown.
You may find water on plugs or something.
Could have thrown timing belt, cracked a piston, etc.
Only after everything seems normal, then try starting fluid spray, to see if may be fuel problem.
Use inductive timing light to ensure spark.

1997 pontiac bonneville 4 door v-6 coollent leackage but no signs of leakage, lose of power, lose of oil pressure, trubles starting at times.

You may have an internal leak. It could be leaking into the cylinders past a head gasket. Check the spark plugs. Pull one out and if it has white residue on the electrode then it's burning water/coolant. Also check the dipstick. If it has a sort of frothy watery looking oil on it, then you're leaking into the crankcase.
