Question about 2007 Chevrolet Impala LS Sedan New Cars

1 Answer

I have a 2007 Impala that I purchased new it now has 56,000 miles on it and the tire pressure monitoring system no longer works (display shows all dashes) and you have to be within 10 feet to unlock the doors or use the remote starter. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the transmitting antenna and GM issued a notice 2 years ago but they will not cover it but will fix for $400.00 - $500.00. Is ther anything I can do?"

Probably not. GM should have notified you of the problem, but after 10 years, you are probably stuck. I had the same problem with a past Onstar upgrade offer that expired before I found out about it - it appears that unless the problem can cause injury, they are not obligated by law to issue a recall. The Alldatadiy.com website usually lists any technical notices for cars, and in future you may wish to look at what they have for this vehicle to ensure all recalls have been taken care of.

SOURCE: Remote start and door locks will only work from 10 feet or less

1) If the batteries in your fobs are getting weak then the signal strength of the fobs will also be weak. The fob can't transmit the signal very far with a weak battery.

2)Is it possible that your owners manual may explain how to reprogram the car? Much of the settings for my 04 Impala were programmed through the radio and the manual explained how to change the settings.

i had the same problem... go through the menu until you see reprogram remote. hit the check mark button and hold the lock and unlock button until the horn honks. key has to be on car not running though. You will eventually have to do it again but for some reason it will work for a while.

Hi. It is very difficult to remove the Tire pressure warning system.
To reset the light, the vehicle must be driven for a period of about 20 minutes. After the pressures have been check(don't forget the spare, unless you have set the monitoring of it off). If this does not reset it, then there may be a fault in the system. This needs to be rectified by a VW franchise. The sensors are often damaged when the tyres are replaced.
Hope this helps.

The service tire monitoring system light is on in my car

You either have a tire that's low on air pressure, or have a wheel sensor problem. First check the pressures in the tires [ if you have a full size spare tire, check that also ] with a known accurate gauge [ ones at public air stations aren't usualy accurate ]. The correct pressure is on a decal in the driver's door frame .
If the pressures are ok, then the tire pressurre monitor system will need to be scanned to find the problem. Any full service shop should have the proper equipment for this.

The tire monitor system light is on, how do u reset it?

First check to make sure all of your tires are at the right pressure. You probably have a low tire. Too much pressure will turn that light on too but in most cases its not enough air in the tire. Once they are all at the proper pressure if the light doesn't go off take it for a drive it usually only needs a few blocks at city speeds to turn it off and if that still doesn't work check your manual it will be in there.

It's a Tyres Monitoring Pressure (TMP) system ECU (Electronic Control Unit) temporary faulty. Run for few miles above 30 mph, and all the temporary faults of Tyres Monitoring Pressure (TMP) system ECU will dissappear themselves. Also you can access & erase the TMP system ECU for all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) memored, if you will connect a VW / Audi diagnostic equipment to the data link connector of the car.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR RESET PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: There are 3 different ways to reset the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system. After resetting, the TPM system requires up to 30 minutes of straight line driving in each of the 3 speed ranges to complete the calibration process. If the TPM system does not reset, or DTC C1245 remains current, refer to Diagnostic System Check - Tire Pressure Monitoring. For further information, refer to Tire Pressure Monitor Description and Operation.

USING THE EXTERIOR LAMP SWITCH
  1. Adjust all tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi. Refer to Tire Placard.
  2. Turn "ON" the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Cycle the exterior lamp switch from "OFF" to parking lamps 3 times within 5 seconds.
  4. Use the scan tool in order to clear the TPM DTC.
USING THE RDS RADIO, IF EQUIPPED
  1. Adjust all tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi. Refer to Tire Placard.
  2. Turn the ignition to "ACC" or "ON", with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn the radio "OFF".
  4. Press and hold the "DISP" button until "SETTINGS" is displayed.

Tire pressure reset will not reset

Labatche822,
The process for resetting your Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) is below.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards.

To reset (calibrate) the system:
1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
2. Press the GAGE INFO button on the DIC until
TIRE PRESSURE appears on the display.
3. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for about five
seconds. After five seconds, the display will show
TIRE PRESSURE RESET. If TIRE PRESSURE
RESET does not appear on the display after about
five seconds, see your dealer for service. After you
release the DIC RESET button, TIRE PRESSURE
NORMAL will appear on the display.
The system completes the calibration process during
driving. During the first 10 to 25 miles (15 to 40 km) of
driving, the system will not alert you if a tire is high or
low. After 25 to 100 miles (40 to 160 km), the
system will only alert you about pressure differences of
12 psi (85 kPa) or more. After about 100 miles (160 km)
of driving, the system will alert you if one tire is
10 psi (69 kPa) different from the other three tires.

2003 chevy impala low air pressure message light stays on how do i re program it?

If by low air air pressure, you mean the tire pressure sensor, here is the way to reset.
To reset (calibrate) the system: The tire pressure
monitor system can be reset two ways. With the ignition position at ON, pull the interior lamps control to the ON and OFF settings three times. It can also be reset through the radio using the
following steps:
1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and turn the radio off.
2. Press and hold the TUNE DlSP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.
3. Press the SEEK SCAN up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu.
4. Scroll until TIRE MON appears on the display.
5. Press the 1 PREV or 2 NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed.
6. Press the TUNE DlSP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second.
7. Once the monitor has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display.
8. Press the TUNE DlSP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify exit.

The system completes the calibration process during
driving. The system normally takes 15 to 20 minutes of driving
in each of three speed ranges to "learn" tire pressures. The speed ranges are 15 to 40 mph (25 to 65 km/h), 40 to 65 mph (65 to 105 km/h) and above 65 mph (105 km/h). When learning is complete, the system will alert you after two to eight minutes if a tire is 12 psi (83 kPa) different from the other three tires. Detection thresholds may be higher and detection times may
be longer on rough roads, curves and at high speeds. The system is not capable of detection at speeds greater than 70 mph (110 km/h).

Almost all of the message center items are accessed through the menu on the radio. You should be able to find what you need be getting in the menu and looking around. Hope this is what you were looking for?
