Looking for fuse box diagram for 1997 Jaguar xj6. Need to know fuse number for electric trunk release

if your car is a x300 series which i think at that year it will be.there is no specific fuse.the most likely prob you have is the wiring around the boot/trunk hinge has broken use the key in the mechanical lock to gain access and repair the wiring

Trunk will not open fuel door will not open all fuses ok

You have listed the vehicle is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. The trunk is not electronic and only unlocks with the key as well as both the gas doors. Any issues here then it is your key or the actual trunk latch. If you do have a 1988 model year then the trunk lock has 3 positions. locked all the time, unlocked all the time or the vertical position locks and unlocks with the vehicles drivers door lock. If the trunk button (paddle) is loose and moves but nothing happens then the inside rod has come loose and you will have to manually operate the latch by removing the license plate and taking a long screw driver through the lower plastic bungs. The fuel flap is a separate unite and does have a manual release but you need to open the trunk to get to it. If the fuel flap stays locked all the time then the actually filler neck module will need replacing. If you have a 1997 which has the electronic release button to open the trunk (95-2003) Then you will need to firstly lock all door and unlock the drivers door 2 times. Check the fuel flap is now released, if not then the fuel flap actuator located on the filler neck inside the trunk is bad. If the trunk does not open with the remote, inside car switch and trunk mounted switch then the passenger side trunk harness is broken. Open the trunk with the key and on the right(passenger) hinge there is a grey plastic cover, remove that cover and carefully peel back the wiring harness cover and you will find 1 or more broken wires. Once the wires are repaired then I recommend you zip tie them in place and retest the trunk release button. If this does not answer any of your questions please feel free to email

1997 xj6 lighter doesn't work. I've checked the rear trunk, and two engine circuit breakers.

And you have checked the fuse? Check the bottom of the lighter. You can pull it out. It has to have a wire that clips onto the back to work. Make sure that wire is hooked up and is connected good. If it is, try checking the current in the wires. You will need a voltage meter to test the wires. Find the right one, then change it. Thank you for using FixYa.

My suggestion would be to open your glove compartment and pushing the valet button to release the locking mechanism for your trunk which would cause everything else not to work.

Airbag(srs)light on and the interior lights stay

I had a problem with the air bag light on. The wire in the cancellation module was damaged. I purchased a used one on ebay and that fixed the problem.

I can nit open my trunk on my 1996 jAGUAR XJ6.

ok, if the key won't open this then the lock is jammed and if you don't want to damage anything, I know I wouldn't, I would take it to a mechanic. The jammed may have been what killed your battery if the valet trunk open was not working it may have been shorted out. There is a way to jump vehicles with the battery in the trunk like that but I am not familiar with it and if the buttin doesn't work to release the trunk it would do you no good anyway. most likely you are looking at replacing teh truck locking mechanism.

I need to find the release for the trunk on a 1997 xj6. My dad wanted to find out what would happen if he pressed the valet button in the car, turns out it locks the boot! As he is a very intelligent being...

The black headed key (or integrated key) or the key transmitter should open the 'boot' after the valet button has been pressed, according to the manual. If the transmitter is pressed 15x (or more) within 20 seconds, it activates a 20 second waiting period before it will work, but the black headed (or integrated) key should still work. Please don't say the transmitter and the black key are in the boot! Let me know if you get in!

Have 1996 xj6 valet was pushed master key dont work in trunk how do i open trunk?

Had similar problem when keys accidently locked in trunk.Solved by drilling 1 inch circular cutout (series of small drill holes) behind number plate above lock. Lock operating bar then visible. Lock released using long nosed plyers. Note.. release button on lid failed to operate as by coincidence wiring loom failed where it passes trunk hinge ! Hole re-sealed and number plate replaced. I had vallet key but this dosnt open trunk. Hope this helps Pete
