First you need to order a new handle and trim ring, 2 separate pieces. beige or grey are your only choices. www.tnaautoparts.com cheapest and only one i found that caries beige. i did both front doors for 25 dollars total including shipping. Remove door panel, 2 screws under round plastic caps that pry out and off, 2 screws at bottom, 2 lg screws in middle handle, 1 plastic retainer in side that prys out, 1 screw under square cap in the center of the trim ring. remove black plastic triangle shaped piece near the mirror, prys off easy. grab door panel and pull out then lift up. leave wires attached and let panel hang loose. remove screw from old door handle. remove linkage from handle and from lock. connect linkages to new handle and lock (look carefully at the old one before you remove the linkages) , install the last screw you removed to hold lock in place while you check to if everything works. when i finished mine neither door would open from the inside. i had to take pliers and slightly bend the linkage at the elbo's to shorten the travel distance. check this before you put everything back together by just putting the door panel back in place down fist then in, window down, close door, reach in and open door, if it doesn't open bend linkage and try again. when you are sure everything is ok install all screws except the one that was under the square plastic cap in the trim ring. to install trim ring look for notch on back side toward front of ring, push ring in notch end fist, back end slightly out, when the front end is in and seated push the back end straight in. install screw and push cap in. this job is not as hard as it sounds and will make sense when have the panel off and can see.

How do you replace drives side exeior door handel for 95geoprizm

1) Remove the plug inside the interior armrest and remove phillips screw.
2) Remove armrest and two screws that hold door panel to door frame.
3) Pop the outer cover off the interior door handle.
4) Remove the interior lock knob and remove door panel by popping out tabs connected to door frame and lifting up off of window ledge.
5) Remove the two nuts holding exterior handle in place.
6) Disconnect the L shaped linkage from the handle. The trick to getting the L shaped linkage into the new handle is to feed L shaped metal pole through hole in door where exterior handle was, leaving the lower end of this linkage in its slot.
7) Feed the end of L shaped pole through the plastic 'hinge' in new handle by folding the hinge over and pushing the end of the L through both sides of the plastic hinge at once. slide the lower loop of the plastic hinge down the L shaped pole to secure pole to handle.
8) Place new handle into door and reverse the process to reinstall interior panel.

Hope this helps Tim

The interior door handle on the driver's side of my 2000 Tundra does not open the door. The exterior door handle works fine. I would assume the cable has broken on the door latch portion. What is the...

remove the screws that fasten the interior door panel to the door.  Visually inspect the handle assembly. there will be two cables that connect the handle and lock button to the door lock assembly.  I would bet that the L-shaped end of the interior door handle cable broke.  The replacement is self explanatory for the handle. Google the door lock assembly which isn't as visable.  Bob

My 2004 Toyota Sequoia rear door will not open - the handle is broken. How do I get into the door, whith it closed, to make the necessary repairs?

Dig out the broken bits of door handle, then on the right side insert a flat head screwdriver diagonally up and fish around for the release lever.
Push up on the screwdriver handle to manipulate the release lever down and your tailgate will open.
Remove the interior panels by unbolting the 10mm bolt behind the strap and pulling off the interior pieces held on by plastic pop fasteners.
Remove the 10mm bolts around the perimeter of the interior cover plate and let it hang by the harness.
Remove the license plate.
Remove the license plate trim panel (multiple push fasteners from behind and a few 10mm around the lock)
Replace the handle.

Rightside interior door handle not opening door

It could mean the rod connecting the handle to the latch has broken. You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. and you can access the innards of the door

1997 buick park ave 4 door right front door handle won,t work from the outside

Order the exterior door handle AND the clip that attaches the rod to the exterior handle from your local dealership ( any part in the salvage yard will have at least as much wear as the one U are replacing ) Also order a can of touch up paint matching your car. After you have the parts and have painted the new exterior handle, roll down the window and remove the interior door panel. ( instructions have been posted at 'replace door lock buttom' ) Two nuts, one on each side, hold the broken handle in place and must be removed ( DON'T loose them ). Loosen the rod from the clip at the top to allow a bit more room, But take note on the way it is attached ( you will need to reattach the rod to new handle ) To install new mechanism put the new clip on the rod, carefully place the gasket and the new handle in place and install nuts to secure. Test the door handle and make sure it works. Reinstall interior door panel.

I have a 1994 Buick Regal and both of my door handles are broken, How do I get into my car

You don't have to break the windows--you just need 45 minutes, a lot of patience, and a lot of wires, long flat objects (like yardsticks), shims, crowbars, and 2 people.

Same thing happened on my 88 Regal. We levered open the top of the doors on both sides, used shims to keep the micro-space open, and managed to "hook" the interior door handle of one door from the other side of the car using the wires. The flat long objects are necessary on the interior door handle side to help manuver the hook into place on the latch. Then, with one person pulling the wire to actuate the interior latch, the other person had to be on that side to pull open the door.

This is the SECOND time in two years I've had to replace BOTH of the interior mechanisms for the outer door handles. Is this normal, or did Buick screw up with this part?
