Have you checked to see if there is fluid leaking out on the ground from a broken brake line or rubber brake hose on front calipers? If you have no leaks, Then You must start the Bleeding proceedure starting at the furthest Bleeder frist. Do You Know How To Do This?? 1st of all you will need to have someone help you. Now I believe you will have to have the ignition on, NOT RUNNING Just in the On position. Have your Friend Pump the Brake Pedal Three (3) time and Hold the pedal down with Medium Pressure, at that time you will open the Bleeder thats Furthest from the Master cylinder and let the air come out of the bleeder , After all air is out then close the Bleeder tell your friend to let off pedal and pump up again. Just repeat on each wheel clyinder until the air is completely gone, Now go to your Front Brakes and do the same thing, You should get your pedal back, If not and you don't see any fluid leaks You may have gotten a bad master cylinder from the shop. I sure hope that help you out. If that don't work get back to me and we will find out what in the Heck is going on. It could be several things a bad wheel cylinder if it has drumb brakes on the back, If not it may be a bad caliper, Or a broken rubber Hose. Could be a broken spring in the drum. Get back to me and let me know Thanks again, Bear

On a 97 gmc truck when you push the brake you can hear air from the brake booster into the cab of the truck and brake travels freely to the floor

When a vehicle is turned off, the brake pedal should remain firm. However, if the driver pushes the pedal lightly and it sinks to the floor, the master cylinder has an internal leak.

Braking problem

If you hear an air sound when u push on the brake pedal then its usually the master cylinder. If u can't hear air then you either have a leak in one of your brake lines or there is still air in your brake lines. If that's the case then they need to be bleed out.

No braking assist, rushing sound (air escaping)wheng brake pedal applied.

HI this sounds like the vacuum booster has a leak in the diaphragm. That is why you hear that sound when you push on the brake pedal. With out the vacuum to help this leaves you with a very stiff brake pedal. You will need to replace the Booster which is located behind the brake master cylinder and on the firewall. Good luck

Why do i hear air when i press the brake pedal

well, you don't really hear air when you press the brake pedal. You might hear hydraulic fluid going through the valves in the master cylinder, that sounds like air flowing through a vent. But, I assure you, it is not air.

One can press and pump on the pedal when the car is off and hear the 'rush' of fluid which sounds kind of like air rushing out of an inner tube.

It's a common mistake to believe a rush of air is being heard when pushing on the brake pedal.

I have a 1998 chevy s10 it has a good brake pedal with the engine off but with it running the pedal go'es to the floor and you can hear air at brake booster

Check for fluid leaks and your brakes. If you see no leaks and your brakes are in good shape replace the brake master cylinder and bleed the system. The air you hear is because the pedal went to the floor. If the booster goes bad the pedal will get so hard you can hardly push it at all. I think you will find if this happened suddenly either you have a major leak or the master cylinder went bad.

Power brakes not working

No such thing as vacuum lines to the master cylinder. You do have a vacuum line on the brake booster (power assist). When you step on the pedal do you hear a whoosing sound down by your pedal. This is a leaking Booster. Needs replacement.

When you step on the brake does the engine rpm change. This is a leaking check valve (one way air valve).

Hard brake pedal hear air leaking when pedal pushed

When you press on the brake? Have your brake vacuum assist checked. It,s that bigspaceship looking thing between the brake master cylinder an firewall. good luck and be safe.
