Question about 1999 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

1999 isuzu lwb trooper 3.0. Is a pig to start. once it has started and run then the vehicle runs beatifully all day. you can stop and start with whatever time lag and it always jumps straight in-no problem. Each time I've taken it to Isuzu it has been diagnosed as a faulty oil pressure switch, new one fitted and guess what, it never makes the slightest difference-apart from to my bank balance. ANY REALISTIC IDEAS. PS I've put up with this for about 5 years now. When the engine has failed to start and been jump connected to my other car with the engine running than - along with a cloud pf smoke - the Isuzu will start immediately. Best Regards - John G.

I could have added but didn't want bore anyone that if the trooper stood for a second day the battery was going flat - then I had no chance. I solved that by having both batteries load tested. One turned out to be U.S. the other was 'poor'. The poor battery , whilst standing, was being dragged down by the U.S. one. 2 new batteries installed - still won't start from cold but with plenty of battery poqer to spare. Now find that if I do 4 runs of the glowplugs one immediately following the other, then it will start. If I do one run of the glowplugs then it won't start ............................ unless I do 6,7 or 8 cranks, release the key and immediately switch again to start - then it starts. The first sympton would indicate one or more gglow plug failure - how do I test them? The second sympton I've no idea except it seems to work

Hi.My guess is the glow plugs. They may not heat up enough through age or one or two are faulty. And, when it has run for a while, the engine is still warm enough to fire it up.Have they been checked?

Where is the fuel cutoff switch on a 2000 isuzu trooper

which engine, ill toss coin, land on v6
check fuses first.
wont crank? that grrrrr grrrrr grrrrr sound
jumper cable start it yet, why not?
or put in a known good charged car battery?
or using any battery charger charge yours?
or buy a new battery, (if rich)

if it cranks and wont start?
check spark x6 (scan it yet?)
if sparks ok try test fuel!
if test fuel fails 100% see bad belt below.

EVER REPLACE THE CAM BELT?
if not and over 60k on the last one
the belt is doomed, living on borrowed time.
got the V6?

Where is the emergency fuel cut off switch located on 1999 Isuzu trooper

no engine stated..
i guess you like to search on rumors?
there is inertial switch. but no country stated nor engine nor drive line.

first check for spark not fuel
the ECU cuts Fuel anytime it sees spark fail (3 ways)
to stop TV like crash and burn,
check for spark if its good x4 or x6 , (depends on engine size)
and if that is good, check that engine runs for 3 seconds on test fuel, if thats good? then we check fueling system.
see?
we have posted this answer on ISUZU vast times.
and not one poster ever once, told what engine is there or they country.
or insert scan too
crank for 5 seconds, Got P03xx codes, that is the BINGO for no starts, right? ever scan a car? its a cheap tool all mech have.
and all savvy DIY have.

some isuzu do have this red electric switch
so lets see if the 99 usa has it.
that means if its missing in the pump page, its not there.
drum rollllllll
no switch. 1998 usa trooper.
end easter egg hunt 1200.

the pump runs off the fuel pump relay DIRECT
the relay IS ONLY controlled by the ECU,
