Question about 2001 Mercury Cougar

3 Answers

Sunroof I have a 2001 Mercury Cougar. I was working last night as a delivery driver and had on of those signs with the name of the business. I was really hot and without thinking, opened my sun roof. It went up and then back and then got stuck. I closed it quickly and later when I tried to open it it lifted up and then wouldn't move. Now I'm stuck with a half open sun roof and the controls don't move the sunroof either way. My dad and I checked the fuse and it is in perfect working condition. Is there anything else that I can do to get the sunroof working again because rain has been on and off lately and I'm afraid to leave my car anywhere even for a few minutes. Please Help. Thank You.

The sun roof has nylon gears that pulls the roof back and forward when activated. There is one on both sides of the sunroof track in the rear corners of the roof track housing. Unfortunately they are not replaceable by themselves and must be purchased as a unit for the whole roof track system. The cost of the replacement and labor to have it installed (if you can find someone to do it) is up to $1500 so isn't very practical to replace based on the value of the car itself. Better off to just work the broken piece out and manually put roof back in place in shut position and not use anymore, at least that was my experience with the one my daughter owns.

I have a 2001 mercury cougar, the headlights were left on last night and the battery died. So when jumper cables were connected to the battery the alarm started to go off. The fuse was removed and put back...

You can probably pull the horn relay to kill the horn while you are working on the problem.
With the battery connected to a jumper, try locking and unlocking the driver's door with the key. If that works, make sure the battery gets charged before you unhook the jumper cables to keep the computer memory alive.

Over heating 2001 Mercury Cougar 2.5 manual

is it losing water? if not is your fan kicking on? if losing water, place piece of cardboard under veh at night to help pinpoint where water is leaking. if not losing water and fan does'nt come on check fan relay. if loses water and don't see leak over night on cardboard, then water pump is leaking thru weep hole but only after heats up and pressure is on need to replace water pump.

Where is the reset switch fuel pump on 2001 mercury cougar

The switch is located in the drivers side panel in the foot well, there is a hole in the panel for access to the reset button, this panel is commonly called the kick panel, it is to the left of your foot in the drivers foot well once again..

2001 mercury cougar want start

Try pulling your inline fuel filter, just in front of the passenger rear tire area. Turn on the key to power and see if any gas is getting through. If not contact the Ford dealer in your area to get it serviced for the Fuel Delivery Module Recall. It clogs and will suddenly make the car not start, mine just did this a couple months ago.

Heater not blowing hot air

If the fan motor is blowingthen this is a sign that the fuse is good, if it's not then check the fuse, or you may need a new fan. as for not blowing heat it could be that the gate valve in the heater lines is stuc closed for some reason, or you could need a new thermostat. as for fuse slots 5 & 6 I am not really sure for your car as I would need to see the fuse panel and what accessories you have. Good luck and remember to rate all the solutions you get, thanx.
