Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I step on the brakes and both of my brake lights don't come on at all. I replaced the bulbs already with bulb number 3157. Still no brake lights when I step on the pedal. I checked fuse position 23 and 15 amp fuse is still good.

Could be the brake switch located right above the brake pedal... If it either became disconnected or is no longer functioning properly, you'd have this symptom.

I am having the same problem. I replaced the switch, checked the fuses, and cleaned the connections the assembly. My brake light above the window works but the L and R don't work and have no power to them. Any ideas of where the connection would be missing?

I need to know which fuse needs to be replaced to make the driver's side brake light work? What a pain this always is. Who's idea was it to NOT include a fuse map for the interior of this car? Good Lord.

There is no separate fuse for one brake light, check the connector at the brake light bulb, and replace the bulbs,do not change the bulb out with a similar number, like if it uses a 3057 bulb,do not use a 3157,they are different.Look at the terminals, with no voltage to the light, and bend the contacts for the bulb inward to make sure there is contact.

How do i change the brake light on jeep liberty 2006?

1) You will need to open the rear swing door.

2) On the inside jam there are two torx headed screws (T-15's if I remember correctly).

3) Unscrew the two torx screws.

4) The light is now held by two mounting tabs (small spherical headed plastic sets that go through a rubber grommet).

5) You will need to pry the light casing off (easy pressure with a good size flat head screw driver will do the trick).

6) The light bulbs are twist mount settings inside the light casing.

7) Twist out the mount setting, change the bulbs, and reset the light mountings.

8) To put the light casing push the light casing back on and put in the screws. Everything else will work in reverse when it comes to assembling the whole unit.

Brake lights

There is a metal tab that makes a contact for power to all three bulbs. Remove the taillight assembly and check the contact.
