Hi. it is clockwise.the plug wire number 1 at the front of cap. not at the back at the firewall.standing in front of the engine your number 1 cylinder will be on your right or the driver side. take out no 1 plug and turn the engine by handwith a 9/16 socket and ratchet on the pulley bolts till you get top dead centre. your timing mark on the damper will line up with your indicator on the timing cover move the damper and line up the damper mark with the tab od the timing cover line it up at zero degrees.have your distributor cap off and see where the rotor is pointing. the top of the rotor that strikes the button in your distributor cap should be facing toward the front of the engine. not the striker that makes contact inside the cap. you can now check to see if everything is lined up then you can go ahead and do the wiring. if you are out or if the distributor was taken out and not lined up properly when put back in then pull it out and reline it to number1 cylinder. then go ahead and do your wiring.it should fire up. hope this helps.

I'm not sure either, but to find out simply remove the distributor cap and turn the engine by hand and watch the rotor button. See which way it goes. To be sure that the engine is set up properly, remove the driver's side valve cover and turn the engine over until you see the intake valve open and close. As it closes the exhaust valve should start to open. This is Top Dead Center. Place your #1 spark plug wire on the terminal that lines up with the position of the rotor button and wire the rest from there. Hope this helps.

I need to know what the order on the distributor cap in for the plugs are I know the firing order I just go the last two wires mixed up on the drivers side so I know it's 1-3-5 but where are the locations...

You need to determin which direction the rotor button turns when the engine is running. Take the cap off and get someone to bump the starter . Watch the rotor. If it turns counter clockwise the fireing order will follow its order counter clockwise on the distributer .In other words # 1 wire on the distributer goes to # 1 spark plug. Then the next wire counting counterclockwise goes to # 3 plug . Follow the firing around the distributer for all the wires. counter clockwise is the oppisit to the rotation of the hands on a clock .

1967 ford f100 firing order for spark plugs has 1968 390 v8 aoutomatic

According to my Chilton book the firing order for that motor is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Cylinders are numbered 1 through 4 on the passenger side from front to back. Cylinders 5 through 8 are the same on driver's side. The distributor,on the front, turns counter clockwise. The clips to hold the cap on should be at 12 and 6 o'clock and #1 piston is the first one to the driver's side of the back clip. Hope this helps

1984 pontiac bonnerville plug firing order photo

Hi,
I don't know your engine size, but the link below is a picture of the GM small block firing order with distributor.
The firing order, which should be cast into the intake manifold, for the chevy small block V8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The firing order is the numerical sequence in which the spark plugs are fired. The insertion position of each spark plug wire around the circumference of the distributor cap can be found according to a clock face. The insertion sequence determines the firing order. The firing order is followed clockwise around the distributor cap starting from the 6:30 position with the 6:30 position being the number one cylinder spark plug wire.

Need firing order and placement of first wire on cap

If you have the 3 cylinder engine, the firing order is 1/3/2. The distributor rotation is counter-clockwise looking at it from above, and the #1 spark plug wire goes on the distributor pin closest to the driver side fender.
If you have the 4 cylinder engine, the firing order is 1/3/4/2. The distributor rotation is also counter-clockwise, and the #1 wire goes on the distributor pin closest to the front passenger headlight.
Hope this helps!
