SOURCE: my battery drains if the

Somewhere, you have a subsystem in the car with a short that is causing your battery to drain. The way to narrow this down is this:

Get a 12-volt light bulb (any bulb from a turn signal or something to that effect will work), and solder a wire onto each lug on the bottom. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of your battery, and place the bulb inline with it, so that it is "cable - bulb - battery" (connect one bulb wire to the neg battery cable, and the other to the neg battery terminal). The bulb should light up. This is because you have current being drawn through the car.

Now, go to the fusebox, and take out the fuses for the radio, the car's computer, and the clock (since these all have current drawn at all times). Now of the remaining fuses, remove one fuse at a time. Check the bulb each time - if it stays on, the fuse you have just pulled is not in the circuit with the drain. Put the fuse back and move to the next one. If you pull a fuse, and the bulb goes out, you've just broken the conduction circuit - you've found the system in the car that is responsible for the current draw, and have stopped it by pulling the fuse and opening the circuit. Whichever system or systems that fuse is intended to safeguard, that is where you must now troubleshoot.

I know it's only a partial solution, but it'll get you into the neighborhood of where the problem is, and once you get there, post up some more info and maybe we can take it further and figure out the problem.

Battery being drained 02 Buick Park Avenue at times doesn't start sometimes it can sit for the weekend and will start up Monday morning at times I can go to the store and come out it doesn't start.

Until you find the problem, unhook one of the battery terminals whenever you turn off the engine.
Re-hook it up when you are ready to leave.
Without being there with a tester, I cannot diagnose the problem, but very often that particular problem is the alternator itself, draining the battery.
Many car parts stores will also check this for you free.
Try one in your area.
God bless your efforts.

Won,t start after it sits a while

Alternator may be faulty and not charging the battery or you may have a voltage leak to ground which is discharging the battery like a clock or radio light or some other faulty electrical component leaking power.

The alternator is the easiest to check. Does the battery go flat as you drive it? If not its probably not the alternator. You could check it with a current meter when the engine is running.

You could do the same with the battery when the engine is off to see what the current drain is. This might give you an angle on the thing which is draining the battery.

Nothing wrong with altenator nor battery but want keep a charge

Disconnect battery when not in use and see if it will start if you connect it back up just before you need to use it. If it works something is draining battery.

Battery keeps going dead

Does it go dead after sitting for a few hours? Once started and driven for several miles will it restart if the engine is shutoff? If the battery goes dead only after sitting for a while with the engine off, you probably have a bulb or some accessory that is draining the battery.

77 Caddy Battery drains--alternator and battery have been tested and both are good

If the alternator and battery is tested and pass then you current draw that has to be known. Do you have a test light? youll have to put it in series to negative terminal to negative battery . if it light up there you start the hunt glove box light bulb trunk light bulb.and dash lights.didnt the 77 have power seats? they are popular for battery drain is it warm how about the passenger side why the seat well because they have power even without the key in ignition. Here is your find without test light , with the car sitting feel the power seat is it warm if it is there is your drain, if it isnt go to glove box is the bulb warm if it is there the short, if its not check the trunk where ever the draw is at it has to do with devices that turn on without the key being needed.

well is the battery draining over the time its sitting?
could be a bad battery or alternator, and/or you might have something on the car constantly draining power from the battery.
best to have it looked at by a mechanic.
