Noise when the AC is running and you accelerate you get a noise and if you take your foot off the accelerator the noise stops. i have added freon this month and it does cool but the noise is annoying, Is this a major concern? Also if it is raining and you accelerate sometimes the speedometer cable squeels and then stops, could this be related? thanks for any help

I HAVE A VACUUM LEAK NOISE WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE AND THE A/C IS ON. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE A/C IS OFF. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A RECHARGE KIT AND FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS. I ADDED FREON AND BROUGHT IT TO THE HIH BLUE LEVEL ON THE GAUGE. TODAY WHEN I USED THE AC I NOTICED CLOUDY AIR FROM THE VENTS IN THE DASH. ALSO I SEE A LOT OF WATER DRIPPING WHEN I STOP THE CAR. ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT IS HAPPINING.

The spedometer and a/c are not related, but if you are listeting noise with the a/c most likelly your system is overcharged or the compressor is about to break, i recomend you not to use the a/c unless propelly inspected, because it will damage you belt, and then you will be stuck in trafic, or car might overheat if belt goes
but if you can afford to have the a/c fix just don't use it and you will be ok

When i turn on my ac, i hear a trrrrrrr noise. and when i turn it off it goes away. i think it might be the air compressor. when i turn on the truck and turn on the ac no noise occurs, but when i take of i...

Sounds like it may be going on you. When you accelerate from a stop you put added pressure on the belt, which is fine if are the pulleys and components are good. If the compressor is going bad it will struggle handling the added pressure The cheap possibility is the belt is old and stretched and needs replaced.

Ac makes loud chatter on acceleration been throuhg

hi, there is a published technical service bulletin about this problem for these vehicles and the tahoes. the compressor sitting so low in the system, gets over-run by the liquid freon banging internally and actually locks up on and off during operation. this is the noise you are hearing. apparently there is a screen kit to install in the low side suction line to prevent this from happening, but GM also states the compressor needs to be replaced and the new compressors from GM at least, already have this modification done. So, i replace them when they come into my bay with the complaint you speak of, and the tensioner for the belt, likely the belt too. but it looks like you already know all about that. hope i could help.

I have the exact same problem, however reversed. My whistling sound stops when I accelerate and starts when my foot is off the accelerator. Frustrates me and am afraid to have it looked at for fear of the cost of fixing this problem. Have you since discovered what the problem is or was?

4 or 6 cylinder? 4cyl. it is probably the t- belt slapping or one of the driven by belt items on the motor.
