Question about 2006 Porsche Boxster

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Porsche Boxster and change the oil myself. I am looking at buying a 2006 Boxster S. I am wondering if the oil plug and filter are located in the same place allowing me to change the oil myself.

Ive just bought myself a 2001 Porsche Boxster. Im wondering if the timing belt has to be replaced occasionally as with other cars. Are ther any other maintenance items? Thanks

If you have a rubber-based belt, yes. You did not specify which motor you have, but all rubber- based belts have a lifespan. Usually, this is one job that is chaper for a dealer to handle due to the tools necessary.

I am looking into buying a used 2000-03 Porsche Boxster 2.7L with less than 90k. And i was wondering if there are any major problems on that car since they made the 2.7l engine are they reliable and if not...

No major faults to report. However the RMS may be faulty as with previous models whoch is not terminal meaning will not cause a major catastophe down the line ( as per my Porsche dealer at Guildford, Surrey). Its £1k fix. Other than that bullet proff if service histor is up to date. ENjoy.

How do I change the oil on my Porsche Boxter

Really easy but you need a couple of tools but they're cheap. The drain plug requires a 10mm hex allen head socket and the filter is the cartridge style that is easier to remove if you have a strap style filter wrench. Once you have these, all you need to do is remove the plug, have a big tray, 9 quarts in the engine. Then remove the housing that holds the filter, pull out the old filter, stick the new one in and replace the housing, hand tight. Everything is easily accessible underneath the engine, it may help to jack the back up a little.

I like to change oil myself (ensure plug is in correctly and filter tight). How difficult is this for my 2006 Porsche Caymen S or should I just take to dealer?

If your novice at oil changes, I recommend taking it to the dealer especially, your vehicle being a porsche you don't want to make a mistake thats going to cost you an engine. If the dealer messes up they have insurance for that, so play it safe its not worth your time to save a couple of bucks.... on a Porsche god bless.
