Connie, Were the radiator,water pump and thermostat replaced to try and fix the over heat issue or as maintenance. Engine overheating can be caused by a lot of things, Leak in cooling system, air in system, bad rad. cap, slipping belt, faulty thermostat or installed upside down, faulty water pump, plugged radiator (inside/outside), collapsing rad hose, faulty cooling fan, leaking head gasket, sludge plugging engine water passages, poorly tuned engine, etc..
Take into a good shop for diagnoses and estimate for repair. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

Not cooling,has new impeller and thermostate


Steve, there's many causes of overheating. You say you have a new water pump and thermostat, so it's obviously not those at fault.

Just a question ... you say your car is not cooling, but is it actually overheating? A faulty temperature sender unit (it screws into the engine block, usually..) can give an incorrect reading on your gauge.

If it is overheating - steam/you can feel the excess heat - is your radiator fan kicking in? Is your car overheating as soon as you drive it? Or overheating when stuck in traffic .. and the fan isn't kicking in..?

Other things that cause overheating which spring to mind include a blocked radiator and/or a collapsed radiator hose.

Hot coolant enters your radiator via the TOP hose and cools as it goes down the radiator, then back into the engine via the bottom hose. Check both top and bottom hose after the engine has warmed - sometimes a hose can become 'flat' and blocked.

Another thing that causes overheating is a burnt head gasket/cylinder head problem.

Switch the engine on and look at your coolant bottle - a continuous 'bubbling' indicates that exhaust gases are finding their way (via a burnt head gasket) into the cooling system.

Any oil in the coolant bottle also indicates cylinder head problems. Also check the oil dipstick. If coolant (because of a defective head gasket/head) has found its way into the oil system the oil on your dipstick may appear a creamy/greyish sludge.

Overheating replaced thermostat,no heat,sqeak at waterpump,top rad hose gets hot and solid


You vehicle blows head gasket very easy,to say it overheated and radiator is solid then you have combustion entering the cooling system. when the engine has cooled down and you can open the radiator cap smell the coolant does it smell like fuel or exhaust? If it does you definately have a head gasket

check top radiator hose goes to thermostat housing sound like its leaking if your engine leaking from left driver side on top of engine it has to be top radiator thermostat hose leaking.wait until engine cool down replace top radiator hose see if coolant leaking still occur if so you could have radiator leak.

CAR OVERHEATING FIRST CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT IN THE RADIATOR COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG.IF COOLANT LEVEL IN OVERFLOW JUG LOW REFILL ADD COOLANT BACK TO THE FULL COLD MARK.PUT RADAITOR CAP ON COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG START ENGINE LET IT IDLE UNTIL IT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.MAKE SURE TOP RADIATOR HOSE GETTING HOT WHILE ENGINE WARM UP.IF TOP RADIATOR HOSE DONT GET HOT WHILE ENGINE IDLING YOUR THERMOSTAT COULD BE STUCK CLOSE CAUSING CAR TO OVERHEAT.IF TOP HOSE IS GETTING HOT.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE FOR LEAKS.CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR CORES AND PLASTIC SIDE CONTAINERS.IF ALL IS GOOD ENGINE OVERHEATING WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE, COOLANT FANS NOT COMING ON.COULD HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR BLOWN COOLING FAN FUSE OR RELAY.COULD HAVE PCM FAULT.MAKE COOLING FAN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AND WIRING NOT DAMAGE OR BROKEN.

I have a 99 Chrysler Cirrus with a V6 2.5L. I have steam comming out from under the hood on the passenger side front of the car. Any suggestions?


Hello sounds like you have overheated your engine or cooling system hose or radiator is leaking let your engine completely cool down open radiator cap and refill you engine coolant close it up and restart and watch for your leaking point this could be a rad cap.radiator hose or the radiator tank and at this point you can access the problem and feel if you can attempt to repair or not.Or you can let the car completely cool down top up cool;ant in radiator and take the car into a garage.

Vehicle temp rises above normal and heater blows cold air?


if the truck its self is overheating 9 times out of 10 it it the theromastate unless the heater hose to the heater core is stoped to find the theromstate follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the top of the engine and its right there at the end of the hose under the thermostat housing.

Overheating until I put on heater


Sounds like the thermostat. To make sure, warm up the engine and feel the top radiator hose...if it's not hot then the thermostat is not opening correctly.

No water to top radiator hose, does not overheat but bottom hose is stays cool


sounds like a clogged radiator if there's no water to the top hose, also I would replace your thermostat just in case. What you can do is run your car till it get warm , shut it off, and feel all of your radiator with your hand to see if some parts are cold, then it's a clogged radiator. but it should overheat also check your coolant temp sensor to make sure it's correct. Also just look at the motor and feel it, if it's extremely hot and cannot touch it, then it's overheating.
