What about the clutch sound. I take it your fan clutch does not relax which means it is frozen. Try to spin it if it is hard to spin then it is frozen. Which in that mode your truck will not get hot but it is over working your engine. Since it does not relax. Good luck.
The heater fan is on the right side floor board under the dash. It is a little tough to do but not extremely hard. If the blower was making noise, it could be something in the heater housing. If it is starting and stopping it is probably the blower motor. When replacing the blower motor you may have to remove the fan from the motor depending on where you buy a new one. The fans (usually made of plastic) break very easy. If you attempt this, be very careful in removing the fan.
Under the dash on the right side you will have to lay on the floor and look up. There may be a lower dash panel to remove. The motor is just below the glovebox. Removed the wire, remove the bolts/screws attaching the blower to the housing. Remove the blower.
trace heater hoses for control valve. Not sure which car you have, but many cars have these valves. If the valve has frozen closed or the actuator is not working, it could prevent heater from heating.
This sounds like a problem with the blower fan that circulates air in the cabin of the vehicle. The pipes were frozen because the fan was not circulating air.
This could be because the fan has gone out or the air filter has become plugged up. This website has instructions on getting to the fan and filters and how to change the filter.
