There is no part of the catalytic converter that connects to any part of a heater hose.I don`t know who told you this but they are incorrect. The converter is part of the exhaust and no heater hose should be hooked up to it.If you got an after market converter then this could be your problem. What you need to do is get a direct fit catalytic converter. The only thing you need to install is the old o2 sensors on the new converter.Let me know if you have any more questions.Good luck.

2000 chevy silverado not blowing hot air

1: not enough liquid in the system (air in the heater core)
2: inoperative heater valve not allowing hot liquid into the core
3: hot/cold blend door in the heater box stuck on cold
4: clogged heater core
A clogged heater core will have one hot hose and one significantly cooler hose at the firewall connection; easily tested by hand. a good core will have both hoses very hot to the touch when the heater is on full blast.
Make sure that the system is full and at operating temperature, and the heater controls set on full heat. Feel the hoses at the firewall; if they are both too hot to touch then the problem is in the heater box or controls.

Heater hose bypass

I'm guessing you have a bad heater core? To bypass this, you can disconnect hoses from the heater core. You may be able to do this from under the hood or under the car, but it may also be under the dash. IWhen you get these disconnected, you can use a piece of copper tubing or something the sameput the copper tubing into the ends of the hoses joining them together, bypassing the heater core. If it's your heater hose gon, you can cut it shorter by the leak but it is all best to replace rather than hack. Good luck with it. I hope that is what you maen't

2000 Impala leaks coolant out hose in firewall

It sounds like you're looking at the heater core water lines. These connect to the heater core supply and return inlet and outlet pipes to bring hot coolant into the cabin for heat and windshield deicing.

The heater core is a mini radiator and operates on the exact same principles as the radiator does. The heater core is located behind the dash board on the passenger side. Look for a wet spot of antifreeze on the passenger side floor area - close to the firewall for an indication of a leaky heater core. If it is leaking, it will likely need to be replaced. This can be a pricey repair.

Good luck!

I cant afford to fix heater core at this time so how do i identify hoses to bypass

http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/ContentViewer/CVFrameset.aspx
Here is a link for you if you want to replace the heater core your self with common tools. As for the heater hose, you should see two small radiator hose going to the fire wall. You can disconnect the hose from the fire wall and connect them together, this will by pass the heater core till you replace the bad core. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know your expedition is running 100% again.

No heat. gauge working. fairly new thermostat. replaced engine, radiator cap.?

I am guessing that the gauge is showing normal operating temp, if so, I am also guessing that the blower motor is pushing air through the ducts.... if so than

were heater hoses reconnected ?
was hot water valve vacuum line reconnected ?
was all air purged from entire cooling system after engine repplaced ?
were heater hoses connected properly to get correct direction of flow ?
are hoses to heater core under hood getting hot ?

is the heater core clogged ?

Heater No Heat

Hi my name is Allen!

If both sides of heater core hoses or to hot to hold on too then your heater is OK, but if one is to hot too hold on to and the other is just warm and you can keep holding it then you have a restricted heater core.

NOTE: If both or to hot too hold, then you have a door problem. If you change the temp door and air flow feel the same, then you could have either a bad motor or a broken door.

NOTE: We have seen a lot of broken doors on this year model, if you can reach the motor for the temp door and take it off. Then you can turn the lever and if it keeps turning you have a broken door.

2000 gmc sierra 5.3l heater does not get hot

After replacing the thermostat I pulled the heater hoses off and blew air through the heater core at firewall. Can only blow in left side as directional valves will prevent opposite. Chunks of stuff came out with coolant. I then put a piece of hose on the left side and shot water through until it came out clear.
Put it all back together and heat works fine.
