Sadly there are no free online manuals for this vehicle. The best way to find information on repairs for free would be to join a Sable/Taurus car club (since the two cars are the same at this generation.)

Depends on whether they remove the axles or not. Some people do, some remove the control arm. If they removed the axles and didn't replace the lost transmission fluid, This could pop a code.

Can you tell me if a 96 sable can be lubed? Or is it a closed system? It has started squeaking a lot since it became cold. I'm not sure if it has lubrication points.
No lube points. I would have the front end checked. Check the ball joints, sway bar links and tie rods.
