Question about 2002 Honda CR-V

1 Answer

2003 Honda CR-V when the A/c compressor kicks on the engine drops 300 rpm, like it's going to stall. It's making a clunk noise when kicking on and I changed the battery thinking it was weak.

Sounds like it's the iacv or idle air control valve not working due to dirt in the orifice or the iacv is burnt out and cannot turn correctly, or the wiring to it is faulty.

Good luck on the repair.

If the A/C compressor makes a clunk noise when kicking on, that could indicate a worn out compressor.

You're right, 300 rpm is way too low. It should be closer to 600 or 700 or 800 rpm and remain smooth when the a/c compressor kicks on.

Honda vtec solenoid p1259 code

Why did you change all of those things if you were told it was the VTEC solenoid? Why not try that first? Read online to see if there is a method to clean the solenoid without replacing it. I'm not sure that the VTEC solenoid would cause such problems, but I suppose it's possible. The VTEC system uses oil pressure to change the follower on the cam lobes. It changes between profiles. So at higher RPM, it switches to a different cam profile that is more efficient at higher RPMs. Like having 2 cams in 1.

A/C in 2007 Honda CRV just stops working sometimes and then will start up again What could be causing this

the clicking noise is the clutch for the compressor, could be that the freon hi/lo limit sensor is kicking it on or off....in my experience when compressors fail, they fail. check for belt tension and the sight glass (usually green dot) for freon. If the freon is at the threshold, changes in outside temperature and from operation could cause it to trip on and off

2.0 Liter, 2003 Rav4. Car had a ticking noise, Toyota replaced serptine belt and still makes ticking noise. Toyota says its lower engine rod bearings. I used stethascope and noise seems to be coming from...

big end bearings( lower engine rod bearings to confuse) knock at idle and get louder with rpm
if the noise changes with rpm and you are hearing it near the ac compressor then it could be the ac pulley bearing
test if it is the compressor by listening and then turning the ac off the pulley will still spin but the compressor stops
if the noise remains , replace the pulley bearings

The ac is blowing out only hot air

  1. Have your A/C's Freon pressure tested. If it is low, have it charged with new freon.
  2. If your Freon is at the correct level, your Compressor or Compressor Clutch may have gone bad.
  3. When you turn your A/C on, can you tell if the compressor kicks on? Usually you will feel a slight shudder from the engine, or you will hear the RPM's slightly raise and then level out. The temperature blend door may be stuck (if a/c compressor kicks-in)

That is your a/c compressor kicking on and off to create air to the defrost. The a/c compressor will only kick on when the a/c is on or the defrost.

03 chevy blazer stalls when air is turned on

Well I may need more information, but if something electrical loaded your engine to the point of a stall, i would expect fire soon. So most likely the fan motor is eliminated.

Now the A/C compressor, damaged and refusing to turn may be able to stall an idling engine, with todays cool serpentine belts... (In the olden days a belt would burn through and come off.)

The cheap solution to this condition is to turn off the car, and CAREFULLY unplug the compressor's electrical connection. Securely tie the wires out of the way, and test again...

You may want to consider repairing it, however, because the principle of refrigeration is a KEY COMPONENT to defrost in the winter...

Why? Because everyone knows a car air conditioner pulls moisture out, right? That crystal clear water that leaks out under air conditioned cars....
WELL, in the winter, rainy weather for example, is moisture. ....No remove moisture and no defogg.

If i start the car and then start air conditioner the rpm is not automatic increase but decrease what i do?

the rpm will first drop because of the compressor clutch engaging. it should normally drop and then return to normal idle once the computer compensates for the compressor kicking on.
