Question about 1993 Buick Century

1993 Buick century Battery dies after sitting for a day or two. Replaced Battery, Alternator, and positive battery cable like a fool. Same problem. Disconnected positive terminal and connected voltmeter between positive terminal and positive cable - 12.31 volt draw. Nothing is on - not even the hood light. Pulled all fuses, fuseable links and relays and still had 12.31 volt draw. Any ideas? Thanks

From what I get,you have a battery (12.31 Voltage Drop) all the time
No way all the fusable links are out of system
That is kind of extreme to cut them

Go to 20AMP first, and put the meter back in series,as your were.
If you get anything over 30 Mili Amp ,and it doesn't time out after 10 min,you found the issue.
The fuses out ,should have killed that.

The short is probably in the alternator. Remove the alternator and have it tested at the parts store or test it yourself. Blown diode will allow a direct discharge of the battery.

Most likely reason for battery drain,2 to 3 days 2003 Buick Century

charge the battery and then unhook the neg cable place a test light between the battery and the cable if the light is on there is a draw remove the fuses until the light goes dime then look into what the fuse feeds also unplug and remove the wires from the alternator that has diodes in it the can draw down the battery also if you have a power ant that doesn't work right that will also draw down a battery

1991 buick century battery light on

Charge your battery and have it tested. Most part stores will do this for you at no cost. I'm leaning towards an alternator issue but it is possible that it could be both the battery and the alternator. Even if it's just the alternator the battery should be fully charged as a discharged battery can damage the alternator.

1993 buick century battery and alternator check out but still pulling amps off battery is it the starter

Its not the starter.
Could be a long list of things - a mechanic would check for drain by disconnecting the battery and using a test light or VOM to check each circuit. Common items are small lights and stuck relays.

You could be sitting on a hot seat - literally. There is probably a wire shorting out under your seat and it has a control wire for the seat adjustment motors. Adjust your seat and go to the fuse box and read the labels. Pull out the fuse from the slot that contains the seat power supply.

Take a close look at alternator as well. Low /dim headlights may be a sign of battery not receiving a charge from alternator. If bearings are gone in alternator, it will get noisy as well.

My 1993 Buick Century was not driven for 4 months, and now I have tried to drive it and now it stalls and the battery has to be recharged to get it going again. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do....

car batteries cannot be allowed to stay discharged for long ... since there are things that still draw current when the car is turned off then the battery will go dead over time unless its charged periodically .. if it stays discharged for long then it will be perminantly damaged ... so the battery will have to be replaced ... you can usually take the car to an auto parts place .. they often will install a new battery free if you purchase it from them .... they can also test your alternator at the same time .. ... if you cant get the car to run enough to get to an auto parts place then perhaps you can install a new battery yourself and then have the parts place check your installation and alternator ...

Battery died, replaced 3,three,111, days Ihave no ing. or starer power

Something is draining the battery, Is the battery drained after sitting over night or within driven miles. If it drains over night power is being puled from a source, or the voltage regulator inside the alternator is pulling the power and draining you battery.

you need to check for a draw if the battery is dying when it sits, remove the NEGATIVE battery cable and place one end of a bulb style test light or just a 12 volt bulb in a socket with wire leads , so one of the wires will go on the NEGATIVE battery POST the other wire will go on the NEGATIVE battery CABLE this will complete the circuit (do not turn the key on like this) make sure everything is off including door lights, if the bulb is lit you have a draw. start by pulling fuses one at a time until the lite dies whatever fuse you removed that killed the light is causing your draw and that circuit should be inspected closer good luck and i hope this is what you meant please rate -jeff
