That is not a job, to do in your driveway, certainly not as winter approaches

Remove transfer case first,then trans.

Need a floor jack and at least one helper.

You could get hurt real easy, those parts are so heavy, you need two people to put trans on the bench

I need a free manual, to reuild a automatic transmission in a 1986 ford bronco 2 w/2.9l. and how to remove and rebuild, doing this myself. any step by step manuals for this beginner?

The info is in the factory repair manuals, we do not have them because they are copy protected by Ford. You can buy the factory manuals here used for a very reasonable price. You will need many special tools as well.

it is under the dash on the lower right side of the steering wheel . It is easy to get to . should only need a #2 phillips and maybe a 1/4"socket or smaller.
Disconnect the neg. battery terminal and let sit for 30 minutes before you remove the computer

When i put my 1986 bronco 2 in any gear it only goes forward in any gear even reverse and you have to rev it up to 4 grand before it moves

Hi!!
This transmission have band adjustments, your best bet is to get a $15 Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, on the Transmission Section, you'll find step by step instructions. Don't even have to remove anything. all it's done on the side of the tranny.
Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

1986 Bronco II: How do i change the headlights on my '86 Bronco 2?...

there are two screws in the healights. Undo them from the front with a philips head screwdriver. Pull off the wiring harness from the back of the bulb under the hood and remove your light. Take it to your local auto parts store, (unless you already have your new lights!) and they'll get the right ones for you. Repeat the procedure in reverse.

Don't know what transmission my '86 Bronco II has, C5 or A4LD

All 2.8, 2.9, 4.0 V-6's and transmissions are the same. keep flywheel, bellhousing, pilot bearing, throughout bearing, clutch release mechanism(s), flexplate, torque converter with the transmission.
The only modification that will need to be done is to the floor plate. You can either cut it to fit the new shifter or you can remove the front seats and pull the carpet back to get to the (4) 8mm bolts that hold it on and swap in the one from your donor. All that may be left is to trim the carpet. If you take your time, the piece that you trim out can be used to replaced the gap it will leave behind the shifter.

I need to replace the heater core in my 1986 Ford Bronco 2. Are there instructions on line on how to do this?

under the dash on the pass side there is a large black plastic box. take out the 6 screws and pull off the cover. there is a wire attached to the top that controls a flap, that just lifts off. under the hood loosen and remove the 2 host clamps right at the firewall area. Push the metal tubes in to the firewall. Then reach back in from under the dash and pull out the old core. put the new one in reverse order.

1. get the battery tested to rule out a collapsed cell.

2. If the battery is ok, check the wiring harness that runs from the passengers front corner, to the drivers front corner, for a break in the wires. A common spot to find one would be near the passengers side.
