What you need to do is go into the trunk of your vehicle and remove the carpet panel on the back of the truck area. You will see black fasteners.Take these off and the complete rear back up lamp assembly will come out.Now you should be able to replace the bulb. Then just reverse the procedure.Let me know if you have anymore questions.Good luck.

How to charge tag light

Vehicles: 2004 Buick LeSabre 3.8L SFI OHV 6-cylinder

License plate light bulbs - 2 compatible tag light bulb types:
(1) 161
(2) 161LL (LL stands for "Long Life")
SYLVANIA Long Life miniature bulbs perform twice as long as any standard miniature bulb. Designed for durability, lower maintenance and greater safety.

These are available online, and also at every auto parts store:'GRPLAMPAMS___

Since no maintenance manual covers this, do what mechanics do when maintenance manuals fail - get creative.

Unscrew or pry off the lens cover, pull out the License Plate's Type 161 bulb, and insert a new 161 or 161LL bulb, and replace the cover.

Test your installation by turning the ignition key to the "Accessory" position, which will turn on the running lights and the license plate light.

How to replace license plate light on a 2002 buick lesabre

Hi. Remove the retaining screws from the license plate light assembly with a Phillips screwdriver. There are two screws on each side of the lens assembly.

Pull the light assembly cover down out of the way to gain access to the bulbs. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly and pull it straight out. Pull the bulb out of the socket.

Push the new bulb straight into the socket. Replace the bulb and socket inside the light assembly and turn it clockwise to secure it.

Replace the assembly cover and secure it with the retaining screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Turn on the lights to test your new bulbs.

    Replacing the license plate light

Their is a plastic lens covering the licence plate bulb. I can be removed by using a flat-tipped screwdriver covered by a shop towel (or tape) on the right side of the lens. It should pop off where you can access the bulb.
