By good, you mean have materal left on them!

If the rotors have a lip on the outer edges from wear, and the caliper and pad slides are bone dry and rusty, and they will be,you get noise

The way to avoid that, is take the calipers and rotors off once a year, or more often is better, sand off rust where pads and calipers slide and lube with anti-seize compound.
Professionals seldom do anything close to that, and never remove rust.

The rotor outer edges can be knocked down flat with a file,a couple of times, until they are due for machining, which is about every three years.

Metal grinding & rattling in front end at slow speeds (<15 mph) and sometimes noise when tapping brake pedal at slow speed.

It needs to be looked at right away.It could be your brake pads are totally worn out and they are grinding on the front rotors It could also be a bad C.V. shaft or hub assembly.I'm betting on brakes.Don't be surprised if they want to replace the rotors, the brake pads, and possibly even the calipers. They should be able to tell you whats going on within 15 minutes of taking off the front tires.good luck

Noise at 25mph thru 45 mph-- could be
a wheel hub bearing-on front

If so--- do both sides

Why wasn't that diagnosed, when the brakes were done?

SOUNDS LIKE ITS THE FRONT BRAKE GRINDING 3TO5 MPH YOU CAN FEEL IT GRINDING ALMOST LOCKING UP I LOOKED THROUGH THE RIMS AT THE ROTOR IT DOESNT LOOK BAD.COULD THE STRUTS BE TO BLAME CAUSE I PLAN ON...

If the brakes are grinding 3 to 5 mph, and you feel it, the rotors may not look bad, yet, but the pads may be worn down. I don't think the struts have anything to do with grinding. Struts have to do with the bouncing up and down of the front end when going over bumps.

Good luck on this repair.

When the car starts moving the grinding is the worse. as i build speed it gets quiter but squeals. then when applying brakes it squeals until abiut 15 mph and grinds from 15 to stop

One of the brake pads on one of the front brakes is probably wore out and rubbing metal to metal. Your rotor may be damaged to some extent. If it just started it may not be bad but you need to replace the brake pads.

I have a 2008 Honda LXP purchased Novemebr 2008. It has 21000 miles on the clock. From and since 15,000 miles I heard a grinding sound when I applied the brakes after the car was stationary for over 10...

from my experience its sounds like ur front rotors may need resurfaceing...if ur doing that...may as well replace the brakes on the front as well...sometimes glazed front brake pads may make a sound but never heard of it as a grind, usually its a squeal...have ur dealer check ur rotors for hot spots in which u would need them replaced if they are overheated..also check the front pads for cracked brake pad material
