Hi,

Am afraid nothing much you can do since you have to make do with what is locally available. However, a couple of things you can keep in mind:
1. Using leaded fuel with a car intended to use unleaded fuel would destroy your car's catalytic converter faster than normal wear and tear;
2. At times unleaded would be available, pls use as much as possible to help clean/remove the lead additive, tetraethyllead that will cover some soft engine parts with the lead-containing material;
3. you may have to tune your engine's timing to compensate for the leaded fuel.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

To gain more milleage for everyday use, which fuel is the better to use - LRP or unleaded?

depends on the age of your vehicle , if it is pre catalytic convertor then lrp may give slightly better mpg but a lot will depend on the condition of the engine mileage , serviceing etc , if your vehicle has a catalytic convertor then i would'nt recommend lrp as the unleaded burns cleaner , to get better mpg it's a good practise to use a fuel addative that covers the catalytic convertor as well as the injectors, valves etc , this will remove carbon build up and so improve the signals required from modern engines that are sent to the ecu , hope this helps

Hi,is it normal that my upper hose from the radiator is hot and the bottom hose is cold. My thermostat is seated at the bottom hose.I drove about 20 km than my heat gauge went up,i puled over waited a...

Yes, it's normal becouse the thermostat open the radiator's circuit when the cooling agent's temperature becomes 87 degrees. If the temperature indicator shows normal, it means that the thermostat is ok. It's important and better for the engine to put in fuel tank the right fuel.

Can 94 jetta run on leaded or unleaded petrol

It is best to run this engine on unleaded petrol. A high grade unleaded will give you extra performance and cause no damage. Leaded fuel was designed for cars made in the 60's to 80's that had used softer materials in their cylinder heads, leaded fuel pro-longed cylinder head life and reduced pre-ignition. Unleaded fuels are a cleaner, safer fuel to use.

What petrol should i use in my 1989 citi sport golf? Lead replacement or unleaded fuel? Thanks

Unleaded is recommended for this car but it is compatible with LRP since it has no catalytic converter.
I am asuming you are in South Africa? Have a look at the NAAMSA fuel compatibility database.

I just bought it and need to no which gas is best for it out of the three types. and if i put regular gas in, will that break it!

when you open the gas flap to put gas in it should say "unleaded fuel only" or " premium unleaded fuel only". If it says premium only use premium. If it just says unleaded then you can use normal unleaded gas. But some stations have a lower grade unleaded gas. Use 88 octane or better.
