In rear of injection pump of mb 100 how will i know that it was point to or it was fired to number one may iknow the timing mark on it

Ok, what degree before tdc is the spill timing on No one piston?

if you are talking inline fuel pump for a diesel engine ( only unit that allows for spill timing) you set the injection mark on the pointer and spill shut off is at that mark
with diesels there are a number of differences as to the different makes of engines as some are 15 degrees up to 22 degrees but they are all set on the INJ mark
talk with a specialist diesel shop as to the degrees for your make of engine as it is critical to prevent engine damage

Marks in distributor cap on 5.7 litre vortec position when set on #1 position

if distributer has ever been out most likely it didnt get put back in same position. pull the #1 plug have some one cover plug hole with finger, by hand or with a socket on crank pully turn crank to your right( when facing engine) until you bring timing mark up to tdcas mark gets close air should blow by finger that way you know your on compression stroke pull distrib cap and see where rotor is pointing thats your new number 1 wire the rest accordingly

Hi, I need some help please! I have a peugeot 406 2.1 td p reg. I've had to put a 1.9 bosh pump on it to bipass the imobiliser. does any one know what order the injection pipes go in. cheers ale

Hi Alex, The firing order is 1-3-4-2. When fitting the injector pump I hope you noticed the match marks for timing. When fitted and aligned the engine will be at TDC firing on one. To identify # 1 on the pump, connect the fuel supply and bleed air from the system and rotate the engine one and three quarter revolutions by hand, having someone watch which outlet ejects fuel when passing TDC completing the second rotation. That will indicate number one piston. Follow the firing order for the remaining three. Regards John

sounds like you jumped a tooth on your timing belt/chain. the wait to tell is first identify number 1 cylinder, then find number 1 on your cap, place a peace of tape right next to it or mark it with a sharpee marker or scribe a mark, however you do it mark it so you know where it is once the cap is off. then remove the cap and rotate the crank until you are at TDC (top dead cylinder) once there look at the rotor, if its not pointing at your mark than your valve timing is off and you need a new timing set. (if you cant find top dead then remove the valve cover and rotate the engine until all the valves on the number 1 hole are closed. once they are all close this indicates the compression stroke and number 1 is at TDC)

I changed my 1986 Toyota pickup engine, when it was all done i tried to turn it on and the gas pump wasn't pumping enough gas so i bought a new one and installed it, apparently now the pump has to much...

1986 is it fuel injected or carburator? Ill assume it fuel injected. New engine? Too much fuel pressure?
If its fuel injected is not going to be too much fuel pressure. There is a fuel pressure regulator that regulated the pressure.Because its a replaced engine what is the firing order? There will be 2 of them 1342 and 1432, You'll need to check the timing and the firing order. Bring the engine to top dead center, use the mark on the front pulley. take spark plug# 1 out.Is the piston up? Top dead center is the piston up and crank timing mark on zero( 0). remove distributor cap is it at a position to fire # sparkplug wire to cylinder? If not youll need to set it there. Because you are stating it shakes alot you not in the right firing order. let me know

Ford falcon 4.0 litre fuel injection, backfires when revved up. please send a diagram of the firing order. Also, the timing is out; owners manual suggest that timing can not be set manually

i have a 96 xh ford falcon 4.0 ute.I am rebuilding the engine and delated the pic i had of the timing set up . I am after a pic or a site that i can see where the timing marks should be. I know that the crank of cause is tdc.(key is on top) cam marker is at 3 o'clock (90 degrees from top). Where does the dizzy gear timing mark point to?

below the cam gear on the side where your belt snapped is where the V notch that is an upside down cut away on the metal backing plate behind the gear nearest the cylinder head matches up with a cast block with a ball bearing in the middle in the 6 o clock position on the cylinder head. looking at it on the right side it is a cast almost machined straight edge up and down. On the left of the block it is something like C shaped. if you drew a circle and then on the right side cut one third of it off with a straight line, put a steel ball in the middle about 5 mm thick, that is the mark for the engine timing and you need nothing else, no TDC on the Crankshaft etc.

on the back of the fuel pump flywheel there is a key way type notch square looking cast into the wheel. it is about 2mm x 2mm in size.
this gets lined up with the cast aluminium mounting for the injection pump.
there is on the outer most point of the casting that the injection pump in mounted on a horizontal line cast into the very outer most point possible of the casting.
This horizontal line matches up with the key way type notch on the fuel injection pump flywheel.

It still needs to be timed but you wont bend any valves breaking the injection pump.
