Question about 2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab

1 Answer

2001 f250 replacing a/c compressor. Do I have to replace accumulator. The repair blogs and books i've read only say that if the compressor has been open for some time. I only plan to disconnect the system long enough to replace and bolt on.

The accumulator should be fine, although you may want the system vacuumed purged before refilling

How do I get fire to an AC compressor I just replaced on an 2001 Chevy Z-71 5.3?

Did you fill the system with refrigerant? That system should take 1.8 pounds. Next place to check is the low pressure cycling switch. It's the switch on the accumulator (big round silver thing on the fire wall on the passenger side).

Good luck.

Replacing compressor, accumulator and orifice tube on 97 k1500. how much pag oil goes in compressor, and how much goes in accumulator. book says to empty oil out of old accumulato, measure and replace that...

Look for a light blue label in the engine compartment, the refrigerant capacity and oil capacity are on that label. But, being a '97, that label might be long gone. That information can also be found in a service manual. Manuals can be purchased at parts stores and you might even find one at a library. You could also call a dealer's service department and ask them.

I need directions on how to change a a/c compressor and a water pump on a 99 taurus

first you want to go buy a book on the car, you can get them at any auto parts store, the book has all the info you need to replace both, but you need to know why you need both parts replaced, is the car overheating? coolant leaking from the weep hole or gasket? w/p bearing failure? a/c comp leaking from a seal/gasket? pully bearing failure? a/c clutch faulty? to get to the point, if you plan on doing the repairs yourself the water pump repair is not that bad to replace, you will need time and patience, as for the a/c comp repair, it might envolve more then just replacing the comp, you may need to flush the system, replace the dryer/accumulator, expansion valve, also to do the job right you will need a vacuum pump, the a/c system will need a vacuum put on it to remove any air and moisture that gets in the sytem when you break the seal on it or you might still have problems after the repair.

No special tools should be necessary but it is recommended procedure to replace calipers in pairs. Be sure to follow manufacturers procedure for bleeding. ABS systems need to have the accumulator charged. Parking brake mechanisms may require attention.

2001 a/c compressor

You can use the 14G. Just make sure it will bolt up the same. It should. And the plug in wire should be good also. The replacement compressor must have the correct amount of oil before it can be used. If your compressor went out and 2001 is about 9 years old you might want to think about replaceing the accumulator also. And for the coolest air you need to evacuate the system. This is where the system is connected to a vacuum pump for a couple hours or so.Use exactly right amount of freon thats called for.
I hope this helps you.

Ford f250 a/c stoppes cooling when driving average speed

I think either the pressure switch that turns the AC compressor on and off is at fault or the magnetic clutch on the compressor is going open when it gets hot, when it stops working use a 12 volt test light to check if 12 volts is present at AC compressor connector, if it is'nt check the cycling switch in the low pressure line, that is the line that gets cold and is the largest size coming from the compressor, it may also be in the accumulator bottle.
