Check you stabilizer links. You will need to do this with the wheels on the ground. There should be enough room for you to crawl under each side. There will be a round bar in between the wheel. There will be a link connecting the bar to the suspension. It will look like this. 2002 XG 350L REAR SUSPENSION RATTLES GOING OVER - airjer995_0.jpg

Push, pull, and wiggle this part. If it moves or clicks than you found the problem.

There is one one the front and one on the rear. These are pretty common. If you hear the noise going over bumps or if you abruptly turn the steering wheel from side to side at a slow speed so the whole car rocks side to side than I would almost guarantee its the links or the stabilizer bar bushings.

If the strut is clunking its usually not the bushing, especially on the rear. It would be the strut itself. The strut would also either have been at one point or is leaking oil. You would also likely experience a wierd bounceas the suspension recovered from a bump.

Rear tire makes a cracking/popping sound when going over speed bumps

Sounds more like its one of the many bonded rubber bushings on the rear suspension is giving up.
While someone is looking at that get them to check the rear hub/bearing.

Metal clunking sound from rear suspension challenger r/t 2010

Sorry dude, it is hard enough trying to keep up with all of the clunks and bumps and squeaks and rattles that occur on vehicles with factory suspension parts. When modifications are made...it is anybody's guess.

All I can tell you is to diagnose the problem the way any auto technician would diagnose any other suspension noise...get it on a lift and perform a thorough inspection and/or have someone bounce the car up and down while you stick your head under it and see if you can tell where the noise is coming from.

I'm having problem with my Toyota AE100 which when I drive, the rear suspension sounds like 'klak..klak'. For your info, I'm using a GAB adjustable suspension with 17 inch wheels. I'm trying to get rid of...

first of all, since you are using adjustable suspension you should make sure the spring is captive in the shock absorber. Lift the rear of the vehicle and support the car on the body, allowing the rear wheels to hang down. See if the spring can easily be moved. If it can. then likely the spring has sagged, or it is incorrect for the shock absorber. If not, while you are there check that the top hat of the strut is tight by lifting the wheel and strut assembly by hand. If you get any movement in the top of the strut, there will be a loud noise while going over bumps. Another area to check are the stabiliser arm/sway bar bushes. Mounted to the body you will see a bar that goes left to right, connecting to the struts with small link arms. Try to move this bar up and down against the body, paying attention to the rubber bushes where it meets the body. If there is movement in the bushes, there will be banging sounds when going over rough surfaces or bumps. Also check the small link arms for looseness or play.

Rattles really bad over bumps sounds like the front end is gonna fall off

I have a 2002 Escape 3.0L with 120,000 miles and have had a couple of rattlers.
The first was a constant light rattle. It was the sway bar links.
The second sounds like what you've got. Occasional rattle, but nasty on bumps. The rear bushing went bad on the passenger side lower control arm the control arm was banging on the "frame".

Here is a picture of my new control arm. The bad rubber bushing was the "lowest" one in the picture, near the vise.

zeevert_32.jpg The control arm was the cheapest from the Ford dealer; maybe $50? Repalced it myself. Not too easy.

Rear Suspension noise on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8

Check sway bar. On some models as suspension sags, sway bar outer ends will contact the body, leaving a mark or dent just above the end, causing a bang over bumps. Only way to correct this is to change springs or add a spring lift.
