Headlight Problem - 1992 Plymouth Voyager

The headlights on my Voyager are stuck on in high beam. The only way that I was able to turn them off was to unplug the lamps. The light swich activates the tail and dash lights as normal but has no effect on the headlights nor does the high low beem switch, they stay on high beam. The dash hight beam indicator stays on with or without the lamps pluged in. The solution?

Check and see if the dimmer switch is working, it's most likely stuck. it might also be the headlight relay.

It was the headlight auto shut off relay that was shot. Removed it and the headlights work fine except the high beam indicator is always on even on low beam, and of course the auto time delay shut off no longer works. I could not find a replacement at the auto wreckers. Old van so I will live with it.

2000 Plymouth voyager Doesn't have low beam and right headlamp wont turn off. Whats the fix.

Has both problems occurred at the same time?

You could have 2 problems, one being the dimmer switch, and the other being a shorted ground to the headlight relay.

The other thing to check is for corrosion at the relay panel for your headlights and fan controls. That will also cause these gremlins you're experiencing.

Check your fuses, check the relay, check to see if you have power at the headlights, as well as ground.

What Headlights and High Beams do the 1990 Plymouth Voyager take?

If the headlights are made of plastic (polycarbonate) and not glass they should only have 12volt 60/55watt halogen globes. Usually you would find this information in the car manual. Cheers

My headlights only work on bright.

Make sure you don't have both fuses blown (22 and 23). Try swapping the high beam and low beam relays (usually found in the engine compartment relay box). If it changes to only low beams working, replace the relay. If not, suspect the dimmer switch.

Headlights and highbeams switches

After reading your post, I am pretty sure the headlight switch is at fault. What happens when you turn the headlight switch to on and then actuate the high beam switch? If both low and high elements light up, I think that would be the headlight switch itself as the culprit. I don't have access to the wiring diagram you need, as that would answer your question end the guesswork on my part.
