I need to know what size brakes i have to change the rear cylinder.

Pull the brake drum, and measure the brake lining width
Give that to the auto parts store,to get the correct wheel cylinder
Do both sides

Sounds like you may have a hydraulic leak somewhere. Check the rear wheel cylinders and front brake hoses going to the calipers.

First of all, you have no rear axle. Are you talking about the subframe or your hubs? As for drum size, I would go with the same size that are coming off. If you want to (and can) go bigger, you just need to make sure they have enough clearance inside your wheels. When ordering parts, you will be asking for: wheel cylinders, shoes, spring kit and drums. Note: the wheel cylinders you will only need to change if you are changing the SIZE of your drums or IF THEY LEAK. To see if they are good, pull your drums, smack your shoes from one side then to the other (using the palms of your hands) then back to center. Pull back the rubber boots and inspect for moisture. If they're dry, don't change the cylinders. If they're wet, they're leaking and need to be replaced. Now, if you do need to replace your wheel cylinder(s), you need to look in behind and assess the condition of the brake line fitting. If it looks rotten beyond all hell, you'll likely be into doing the brake line(s) as well. NOTE: when you actually do get into changin your brakes, do ONE SIDE AT A TIME. Drum brakes can be complex and if you take apart both sides then you have no reference as to how to put them back together!

I changed about everything,cylinders calipers,shoes,pads,and new rotors. then after following correct bleeding proceedures still no pedal.oh, and no e- brake either .what the heck am i doing wrong?(1991...


If you have no e brake that tells me your problem is something to do w/rear brakes. Pull your re brakes back apart and make sure everything is seated properly. Sounds like you didn't adjust rear shoes out far enough. Double check rear adjustment THEN bleed again - rt rear -> lft rear ->rt frt -> lft frt.

Brake pipe problem.


The local auto parts stores carry splice kits that you can use instead of replacing the entire brake line. Just cut the bad piece out and take it with you for size comparison and they can get you the correct splice kit.

I need to know how to bleed the brakes on a 1999 chevy blazer


Start from right rear, then, left rear, right front, left front. Fill master cylinder. Have helper sit in car, have helper hold brake pedal down. open bleed screw. fluid and air comes out. close screw. release brake pedal. Continue until no air comes out. Move to next wheel. Keep an eye on master cylinder fluid level after each wheel.

1. You could have air in the lines yet, but more specifically, I would need to know if you have anti-skid system in your car. Also, you may have a proporation valve in the system that has to be activitated before the system can be bled.

In bleeding, you start at the rear wheels first and then work to the front, doing the master cyclinder last.
Finally, the brake master cyclinder is designed so that the front part of the cylinder pumps fluid to only one front wheel and only one rear wheel. The rear part of the master cylinder only pumps fluid to the other 1 front and 1 rear. This is so that if you loose your brakes, you will always have a rear and front working.

Rear metal brake lines


To get the length, just get a roll of string, run it along the existing brake line 'til u get to the rubber line. you can cut off the line near the master cylinder, bring it to the parts store, they can tell you what size you need. You will have to use several lengths of line to reach the back. If this line has rotted thru, you should change all the others, as they are likely to fail soon. countrycurt0

Ok my brakes go all the way to the floor i do not know if it is the brake buster or the brakes.


Ok most likely its NOT the brake booster, some of the most common reasons for your symptoms are: a leaking line or wheel cylinder, you may see fluid on the ground or on the inside of a wheel. If you cannot find any external leaks, remove the brake drums and carefully inspect for any evidence of fluid leakage from the wheel cylinders also carefully inspect the front brake calipers for any fluid leaks repair or replace with new parts never use used brake parts under any condition, and if the level in the master cylinder remains full you have no leaks any where, then you have a master cylinder that has failed internally, Change the master cylinder and bleed the system.
