Sometimes just turning the ke on and off will let it reset. if not the sending unit on the engine ( top rear of engine needs to have thewire unlugged and check to see if it chsnges the dash gauges reading. if not with a test light determine if theres power on the wire that onnects to the oil pressure switch. It should light the test light with the key on and it should light the oil light o the dash, (red oil lamp) with it unconnected the light should go out and the gauge should go lower than too low. If theres an oil lak at the oil pressure switch most of hem are bad if they leak so get and insttall a replacement at the parts store or have your mechanic install it. The gauge will go offt the dial if theirs added power added to the switches sense wire ( battery power). You might find that the wire going to the sending switch is wired into something else ( burnt to the exhaust ) and making a wrong connection. The gauge it'self can be bad as the multi plug that connects it may have a disconnection. This can be tested with a mechanic that has a scanner ( not a code reader) And he can go though the test to determine what failed and is it a wire or a black box problem.

Sounds like the wire came off the oil pressure sending unit.

What causes oil pressure to drop to zero but goes with accelleration

If your oil is full, it's most likely electrical. If it's not electrical, then it's most likely something like a crack in the pickup tube, sucking air if I had to guess.

Air conit/2002 buick rendezvous

was system evacuate by pumping it down using vacuum pump to remove all moisture out of the system.most time of the time when i work on AC system you have pump it down from 30 minutes to a hour.pump it until low pressure gauge read 30 hgs in the green area.i shut down vacuum pump close off manifold gauge valves see if low pressure side reading stay at 30 hgs or drop if gauge needle stop dropping have leak in the AC system.if all is good you have temperature air door problems.air door not opening all cool air to circulate through AC vents.

I've had sender replace and all points between there and oil gauge verified OK and all the stepper motors on instrument cluster replaced but still get fluctuating oil pressure needle and warning s

If you check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and the pressure is steady, the problem would be in the gauge on the dash if you have replaced the sending unit and there are no problems with the circuit.
The mechanical gauge could verify a problem with the actual pressure in the engine.

Oil gauge on 91 Dodge Dakota suddenly running very high but plenty of oil

have a mechanic test the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge
it is more than likely that the electric sender unit has failed and is sticking internally
the tic noise could be a relay working from an intermittent power supply or bad ground

Is needle pointing down a fuel pump problem?

If you thumped on your fuel gauge and it went back up after pointing on 0 it sounds like a bad fuel gauge problem. But, that would not make it die unless you have a short in the electric system causing it to go faulty. How does it idle in park? Any hesitation on acceleration?

Oil pressure goes down afterrunning 10 minutes

You will need to get a pressure gauge for testing oil pressure, though I would put money on the oil pressure switch or gauge. you could be facing a new oil pump.

I;ve lost oil pressure the needle stay's down while driving, is the oil pump bad or going bad? is it located in the oil pan or the front of the 4.6L MOTOR?

If the needle is staying down and the motor is not knocking then the gauge is probably bad. If you run the engine with no oil pressure, then it will not last long. It will start knocking and ruin the engine. But yes the oil pump in in the oil pan. There is also a oil pressure sending unit that could be bad. It is located on the back of the engine.

2001 ranger 4.0l oil pressure sender location? the oil gauge needle has somehow went past the high level and now sits below the low level pin.

the sender should be near the filter., but if the needle is that far off, your problem is in the instrument cluster.
