Check to see if the fuel pump is running all you have to do to caheck it is open the fuel door and take out the cap turn the key to the on position and have someon listen for it to start up if it does check to see if the timing belt is turning. If its not its your timing belt

Take the ignition module out and take it to autozone for a free test, if bad replace it, but if you have spark at coil while cranking then you might have a fuel problem like fuel pump bad.

I have a 2008 ford ranger xlt 4x4 4.0 . changed the motor and the battery was disconnected . now the truck will not start cause the anti theft is locked what do i do ???

Ensure you have "ALL" the wires connected and a fully charged battery. Then use your remote to turn off the anti theft devises and your truck should start with no problems. You may have to switch the anti theft device from your old engine to your new one or take the vin of the new engine to the dealer and get the code for that engine.

Could be corrosion on the cables, I would clean both cables and try again. if no corrosion I would then look at the battery for correct voltage and fluid. batttery could be bad.

Look before and after the catalytic converters. They will have wiring connected to them.

2003 Ford Ranger starts hard.

That sounds like it could be one of many things. Have you ever given the truck a tune up? I suggest the following things first.

New Air Filter
New Spark Plugs
New Plug Wires
Oil Change (and filter)

These are the basic necessities of an engine. Having a dirty air filter, or plugs that are firing weak can surely cause this problem. Try giving the truck a good old tune up and see how it starts then.
