If the plastic hood release handle inside is broken, can you reach the steel cable, if so, use a pair of vice grips to grab the cable and pull. Sometimes it helps to have a helper standing at the end of the hood and pop the hood with palm of hand, in the area of under hood release mechanism, at the same time your pulling the cable.
If cable is broken, some makes and models, you can remove front grille and get at under hood release mechanism.
There is usually a primary hood release, inside vehicle, and a secondary release under the hood, you have to slide your hand under the hood to release, sometimes you have to press down on the hood a little to move release. Trying to shut the hood with secondary release engaged can be difficult, you don't have the distance and the weight of hood to swing down.
The cable terminates at the latch release located at the front center of the hood. If you can get to this, usually by removing the grill, find the lever the cable terminates in and move it manually with whatever tool you can get in there.
ive had an isuzu before it always took two people to open one pulling hood release one pulling up on the hood if ya get it up this way tie u somthing on it so u can reach it an do it all from outside
you will have to pop the mechanism open from under the car this may be a little difficult you will need a very long screw driver or a pry bar and hopefully you be able to see the latch from under the car.if you can then reach up and manually release the latch once open you will have to replace your cable or the cable tie down which ever is bad. if not you will have to make a new release that you can use on the outside of the car.
The latch is stuck in the open position. I always found white lithium grease worked best on those latches but any good lubricant will work. Try moving the latch manually with a screwdriver. After applying the lubricant move the latch a few times. You should see the tension return to the release, if it doesn't you have a broken release cable.
can you reach the cable itself?,or is it broke at the hood latch?IF its not broken at the outside latch, try to follow the cable,un-hook it from the handle and pull on the wire cable to open it.IF its broken at the latch itself, you are going to have to reach the latch through the grille and try to pull the lever the cable connects to.That part is no fun at all..!!
Pull the Release again and go to the Hood and then Lightly knock on the hood with your Fist around the Area where the Latch is Located. Do Not Push down on it Just Knock on it with an Upward Motion.
first off before you remove the cable take the hood lock off some people will leave it on and a gust of wind shuts hood then your stuck with no way of opening hood again
now with the hood release is simple once remove hood lock just move the slider to wear the wire is loose and pull it off then on the release pull switch disconnect there it looks like it has a ball on end once the removed just size the wire needed for hood release against other wire for size comparison and attach the way you took it off
i hope this helped you in your quest
