Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
If the over temp light goes on, the transmission is supposed to avoid overdrive in its effort to cool itself by increasing fluid flow. If the screen for the fluid is plugged or there's an issue with the pump system, the fluid will not be able to circulate properly. There may also be an issue with the temperature sensor within the transmission. Neither one is an overly expensive fix.
