The earth strap from the engine to the chassis ,check for a feed to the heavy cable as well in case its not getting power ,if it still doesnt work then buy a genuine bosch exchange unit

It clicks then stops won't turn over

bad starter or drained battery. if it clicks and lights are bright, most likely the starter. easy fix if starter. starter is bolster in with just two bolts. two more bolts connect the wires. I've found best price on starters at amazon prime. branded new starters for same price as autoparts stores sell used rebuilt unbranded started. also, no core charge and no shipping old back. great deal. with luck you also will find a youtube.com video showing replacement on your truck. good luck

2000 mountaineer won't start or crank over batt good all connections good even try jumping it

You'll need to check your starter. It's typically accessed under the car. Sounds like that went out on you. If you hear a click / ticking sound when you try to start the car but it will not turnover (run), it could be a bad battery. If no click / tick, most likely the start has gone bad. It's not hard (a bit dirty) to pull it out and take it to a Auto store to get it tested. If you are handy, slide under the car and look around / near where the engine connects to the transmission (see picts online - lots around). There should be an electric motor like device (about 5 inch round and 7 inch or so long) with 2 or 3 wires coming from it. It will be secured by typically 2 bolts. Remove the negative lead from your battery and then go back under the car and disconnect the 2 or 3 wires). These are typically secured with small nuts (about 1/2"). Remove the wires and then the 2 securing bolts and pull it our - same direction as the bolts. Take down and have it tested for free at any major auto parts store. They can sell you rebuilt ones - I find them fine. Replace it (assuming its bad) the opposite as you took it out, reconnect the battery and you should be good to go. Best of luck (no worries, it's easy).

How to put in a starter on a 1993 mercury marguis

get a lift
buy a new or rebuilt starter
drive the car onto the lift
disconnect the negative battery cable
put the car up in the air
disconnect the wiring from the starter, use your cell phone camera to take a picture before removing the wires
take the top and bottom bolts out which hold the starter to the bell housing
pull starter out and down
put new starter in and put bolts back in
look at cell phone picture and reconnect wiring the same way
let car down and reconnect battery
you are done

How do I change the starter?

first unhook the battery! then unbolt the cables from the back of the starter! be sure to mark them with masking tape, or something you can use to identify what wire goes where! then unbolt the starter bolts from the starter, and remove it! reverse this to put new starter back in!

Turn key and get nothing. had starter rebuilt. still get nothing when turn key to start. used a tester light...got power to starter. but when hooked to wire that hooks to cylinoid, light doesn't light up...

When you rebuilt the starter if you didn't replace the solinoid that is probably the problem providing the wiring was reconnected correctly.

How do you change the starter on a 2005 ford expedition

The answer will vary - depending on the engine you have...Generally, you first remove the neg. cable from the battery.
Then you remove the 2 (or 3) wires from the starter.
Then you remove the 2 bolts that hold the starter to the bell housing.
Lube the bolts (must be clean too) - place the new starter... install the bolts... Torque to about 30 lbs .... the reconnect the wires to the new starter.
Finally reconnect the neg battery cable and start your Expedition!!
