Question about 1995 Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

1995 Chevrolet C1500 truck is hesitating , so we replaced the spark plugs and wires ...been 2 months and the truck is hesitating again. This time it feels like it is something different. My truck is also lunges forward and then the truck will "fart" and then its ok for about 10 more miles or so. My son suggested that I fill the clutch fluid "black rubber box" that is near the circle (I assume clutch) that is at the back of the engine. All other fluids in engine are full. what do you think is going on? and does this black box exist on my truck?

Need to take off the dist. cap, check for side to side play at the rotor,(dist.shaft)The top bushing goes out on these, makes the trigger wheel hit the pickup coil. If it's loose ,have to replace the distributor, bout 100 bucks.Suprising how long they will run with a bad bushing.
By the way if that's a stick shift there is a resovoir for the clutch fluid,if you add fluid be sure to take the rubber boot out of the hole before adding fluid.
,replace the boot then put cap back on.
There is a black, well silver box on that truck also.behind the glove box,GM tests them by starting the truck and lightly tapping on the computer,no kiddin, the "tap test"If there is a bad solder joint or something it will stumble while tapped, but I check the distributor first.
Hope this helps

Bad coil pack

If your truck has spark plug wires, you will want to change those as well, as a bad wire can cause an ignition coil to short itself out internally.

Sputtering while in idle and while accelerating.

Going to need more information, but areas I'd start with on a vehicle that old would be (1) fuel filter, (2) plugs, (3) plug wires & (4) air filter. Air filter not likely to be culprit though.

More complicated areas would be contaminated fuel, bad fuel pump, and then you get into emissions "stuff."
