Question about 1999 Lincoln Town Car

1 Answer

1999 Lincoln Town Car , just developed an intermittent crank no start situation. By the time it gets towed to garage it starts. No start one evening, left it started next morning. It has been throughly checked out 3 times by ASE master tech, did have new battery installed. It did it again this morning started fine drove it 2 miles shut off went into store came out crank no start, tried several times then waited 5 minutes after 20 minutes and still no start I called garage and was talking to them and tried the key and it started. Drove to office and shut it off and it started about 10 times in a row. I do have an aftermarket remote start installed but it has not had any problems (until now?) Owners manual says aftermarket remote starts are incompatible with antitheft?? (didn't know that).

Hi! I doubt that it's incompatible. I'm suspecting a faulty starter. If the solenoid reached it's break point issues like this occurs. The solenoid is surely worn and in any given time it will burn itself till it won't start. Have it replaced and you'll be good. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Lincoln Town Car intermittently won't start. Engine cranks over but it won't fire. Later it will start, sometimes several times in a row, but then will inexplicably refuse to start again.

This sounds like an ignition module issue. It will not be available from any auto parts store as it has to be programmed by the dealer.

99 Lincoln town car pulleys stop rotating What's the problem

What pulley does not want to rotate. Is it the crank pulley. If it is, the lock key on your crank might have gotten damage due to the pulley that came loose or the vibration damper that is situated between your crank pulley broke loose and the part connected to the crank turns but the outer part of the pulley is not rotating.

1996 lincoln town car well crank but wont start. these happend same time last year had 2 replace 2 sensors but we had somone else do it so dont now what sensors or were they are. or if its that.

The crank sensor wires may be oil soaked, try moving them a little and see if it will start. It's beside the crank pulley on the passenger side. Got my lincoln started that way.

Replaced air condition compressor an is cranking but not starting

Check the crank sensor that is stuck in the block right by the A/C compressor. You had to unplug it to replace the compressor.

Car wont start 94 lincoln town car

an engine needs three things to start andrun; fuel, spark, and compression. The non-starting may or may not be related to the previous oil situation. The oil light came on because it lost oil pressure. If it lost oil pressure and it's a well worn engine to start with, it might not have enough compression at the rings to start. If it doesn't have enough to start, it'd barely run if you somehow did get it started. It may not start because of some totally unrelated problem like fuel or spark. The only way to find out is to have a technician troubleshoot it. Good luck.
