Question about 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

97 Blazer - no heat from heater (seems like a/c is on) Action taken:1) flushed cooling system (was bad - like it had a lot of stop leak in system) 2) changed thermostat 3) backflushed heater only (with air pressure/water) - heater hoses hot to the touch -still no heat. Suspicion: heater controls (again acts like a/c is on) could this problem be the blend actuator door - (suggested by a parts house) if so where is it located and is there a manual of instructions on how to change out?

No heat in 97 blazer when the heat is turn on it leaks onthe passenger side and it steams up the window so bad

Hi without knowing the exact routing of the heater hoses, it seems quite obvious there is a leak in the cooling system to the heat exchanger (on the inside of the cabin). Generally you could find it behind the dash. Just an advice recheck the coolant level to avoid further damage before repairs are done.

stop gap measures cause more problems than they fix
will have to replace the heater core ( if that was the leak)or fix the leak properly, flush out the cooling system properly and refill with the correct coolant conditioner mix

My heater takes a long time to warm up

You may need a new thermostat. They are cheap and easy to install on a blazer. They sell different temp ones. ask for a higher temp thermostat if you want warmer heat. Also it would be a good idea to get the cooling system flushed. That helps a lot.

No heat in 97 mercury villager

your heater core may be getting blocked up, or the thermostat may be stuck open at times. you have a few options here, option 1 and 2 cost about the same, option 1: have the thermostat replaced just so you know its working properly, a 97 will most likely not have a telltale way of knowing if the thermostat is bad or going bad. option 2. have the cooling system flushed at a shop. this will try to clear out and debris in the cooling system that may be blocking passages or the heater core. option 3 is the most expensive. have the heater core replaced, the heater core is what provides heat to the hvac system in the dash. a few other things to check would be vacuum lines/actuator/temperature door on your hvac system.

Heat in '97 blazer working only when accelerating

One other thing to look at is the vaccum actuator on the heater box, under the dash on pass. side, verify its not leaking vaccum and holding the internal door open for heat. You can normally grab the actuator shaft and operate it by hand to see if this gives you heat... also verify that both hoses to the heater core are hot. hope this helps.
