You may have to remove the NEG battery terminal for 10 minutes to reset the sensor. Or you can take your car to Autozone or Oreillys and get a free scan and they can reset your cars' onboard computer for you.
The scan may show more is wrong with your car than just the cap. The sensor blames the gascap when it detects a leak. You could also have a vent hose leak. Best to get it scanned.
