Transmission fluid doesnt have a filler cap like the oil does . it will require the use of a funnel to add the trans fluid by way of the dip stick tube. locate lwft side rear of the motor.

Hello I have 3 concerns and questions. I drive a 1992 Acura legend, sometimes when i tend to drive for long distances like on the high way over about 60 to 70 mph, i begin to smell and see a slight...

As far as the coolant leak, valve covers don't leak coolant. I would look at the radiator and the hoses going to it. If you see any kind of coolant around it, then look into having it replaced. And for the transmission, on Acura and Hondas there is a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission that allows you to change the transmission fluid, the plug is round and has a square hole in it that allows you to put a 3\8th ratchet into. Drain the fluid and put the plug back in, then locate the transmission dipstick, pull it out and place a funnel into the tube and add about 3 quarts of genuine Honda transmission fluid. We do this a lot for customers where I work and it helps when our customers have that problem.

There is no dip stick on some of these models, to check the transmission fliud level you will need to check from bottom of the car and to add there is a red cap on the top of the transmission.

there is a small cap bolt on the passenger side of the ****** located in the area of the axle going into transmission, the car needs to be at operating temp and lifted level with engine running remove the plug and fluid should drip out, if not add fluid with plug out a pint at a time until fluid starts to drip out . note add a pint and shift in all gears and back to park and check for dripping fluid if dripping install cap. it is full.when adding ,after each pint run shiffter into all gears first. good day

I cannot find the transmission dipstick

TRANSMISSION DONT HAVE DIP STICK,YOU HAVE A CHECK PLUG LOCATED UNDER TRANSMISSION NEAR THE PAN ADJACENT TO THE ENGINE OIL DRAIN PLUG.CHECK PLUG IS A METRIC 11M OR 12M METRIC BOLT.TO CHECK FLUID CAR HAS TO BE LEVEL AND ENGINE RUNNING.WHEN YOU REMOVE CHECK PLUG, IF FLUID POUR OUT YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID IN TRANSMISSION, IF FLUID SLOW DRIP YOU HAVE ENOUGH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION, IF NO FLUID DONT DRIP OUT WHEN CHECK PLUG REMOVED,ADD A PINT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AT A TIME.YOU POUR FLUID AT TOP OF TRANSMISSION UNDER THE HOOD,YOU WILL SEE A RED VENT FILL CAP, REMOVE CAP, YOU NEED A VERY LONG FUNNEL TO POUR TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. IF YOU HAVE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING OR SLIPPING PROBLEMS,MOST TIME TRANSMISSION DUE FOR FILTER AND FLUID CHANGE IF YOU AT THE 60000 MILES TO 120000 MILES TIME FOR FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE.

I can't find the well for the Automatic Transmission Fluid. I see the cap for engine oil, brake fluid and steering fluid but no transmission fluid. Please help!!!

You must locate the transmission dip stick. Look towards the rear near the firewall. It looks like the oil dipstick but larger. You fill up or add transmission fluid through the transmission dipstick hole.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

The brake indicator light is flickering.

If it's flickering while driving, check to see if your brake fluid level is at max level line.
if not at max, add more fluid.
if at max, check brake reservior cap. there should be a float on a stick located under the cap. There shouldn't be any brake fluid inside the float.
If there's fluid in the float then replace brake resercior cap.
note:The float set the brake indicator light to let you know that brake fluid are low. Brake fluid inside the float cause it to sink making the car think that fluid are low.

I need to add brake fluid to the master cyclinder

Open the hood. Look on the drivers side. Find the Battery. Now as you are facing the vehicle go just to the left and a bit farther in than the battery. There is a yellow cap with the Brake symbol on it. That is the reservoir for the Master Brake cylinder. All the check and fill points have a yellow caps. ie transmission oil, eng oil, rad coolent, brake fluid, and power steering fluid.

Can't locate fluid eservoir to add trans fluid

Here how to do it: If you see no signs of leaking from the transmission then the level is probably not low, take it to a transmission shop, transmission repair on this car is not for the DYI.

Ensure that the transaxle case temperature is 70° to 90° F (21° to 32° C). With the engine running, shift transmission through all gears. With engine idling in PARK, remove the check plug from the transmission. If transmission has been overfilled, allow fluid to drain out. If no fluid drains out, add fluid through the TRANS FLUID fill cap under the hood on the driver side in 1 pint (0.5 liter) increments until it slightly flows from the check plug. Reinstall the check plug.
