Question about 2002 Ford Expedition
If the heater core was bad it would be leaking fluid to the inside of your car. a heater core is nothing but a small radiator. how much water flows and how fast is controlled by the climate control. some cars have a on off gate assembly that is installed in one of the heater hoses to regulate the flow under the hood. others use a series of doors within the heater assembly to stem the flow of hot air into the passenger compartment.
open your hood and on the passenger side of the motor start at the radiator one heater hose will be located at the top of the radiator this is low pressure return the other will be comming out of the motor either directly from the water pump or the thermistat housing this is the high pressure hot in feed this hose usually will have the water control gate in it between where it comes out of the motor and where it enters the firewall. check this to make sure the control cable is hooked to it. and in the event of an electric control valve. unplug it and jump it with a 9 volt battery to make sure it will move. if its electrical a blown fuse could be the problem as well
