All cars have vent lines from the fuel to a charcoal canistar that is part of your recirculation system. the emmisions system pulls the raw gas fumes from this cabnister and burns the fuel. if these vent lines are obstucted broken or disconnected or if this canister is plugged. you will smell the raw gas inside the car.
a fuel leak in the fuel filter line from the tank , the pressure pump, or in the rubber parts of your fuel injection system will create this problem as well. most leaks will develope past the pressure pump this pump is usually located on the drivers side engine compartment below the steering column mounted to the frame. a needle size hole is all it takes to cause the smell inside the car. you can use a piece of colored paper to check for these leaks in and around the injection rail and lines.
alot of cars also have a overflow returnline from around the filler cap neck inside the fuel door if this is plugged and fuel just sits there it will smell inside the car as well.
if you do these checks you should find just where the smell is comming from.

From where? you haven't given enough info, but put a large piece of flattened cardboard under the car to see if any is leaking. You will then be able to see what general area it's coming from--if there is a leak.

It could be a fuel injector(s) or even something very simple. When is the last time you had a tune-up, including a new fuel filter? If it's been more than two years, it's overdue. That means new oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs. If your car has a distributor, you should also replace the distributor cap and rotor (cap).

Try to locate a specific area where the smell is coming from. Breathing gas fumes is not healthy!

Smell gas while driving inside car

A leaking fuel line can be discovered by looking for gaspuddles under your car when parked. A fuel-injection line may also leak, causing you to notice the smell of gasfumes during and immediately after driving. A fuel-tank vent hose may also leak, causing unburned gas to exit your fuel system as vapor.24 Apr 2015

1991 mazda 626 smells like gas sometimes it smells more then other times

My 626 smells like gas if I fill the tank to full. Must be a bad connection on the top of the tank.. Doesn't smell if I don't fill it over 3/4.

Gas smell and burning smell from honda 1997

Could be two different problems.
If the check engine light is not on, I would look at the vapor canister for the gas tank. Its usually mounted in the engine compartment.
If you have a small oil leak, the fumes will be sucked into the passenger compartment thru the cowl vents.

Will not start appears no gas

The most common reason a car will crank but not start and you smell gas is you flooded it. Too much gas to the engine causes too rich a fuel mixture and the fuel won't ignite.Click this link below for more troubleshooting :---http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2012/01/car-will-not-start-and-smells-like-gas.html

Gas Smell when heater turned on

When the heater is turned on, it is drawing in air from the cowl at the bottom of the windshield outside the car. If your smelling gas when you turn it on, it would suggest to me that there may be a fuel leak under the hood. A lot of Honda's have the fuel filter under the hood against the firewall. Open the hood, and see if the gas smell is any stronger, or any gas smell at all for that matter. I would strongly recommend getting the car checked as soon as possible, if you can find the source of the smell yourself.

Grand am smells like gas inside the car

I would definatly recheck the regulator to make certain you do not have any leaks.
But to be clear, you are smelling gas and not exhaust?
Also, is you cowl seal in good shape, not missing or damaged in any way?
Let me know.

Smelling gas fumes in car after fuel pump was replaced

it is likely that the access plate that the pump is under is not sealed, most likely the O ring seal got installed wrong or cut and gas is leaking by it, not enough to drip on the ground but enough to smell.
