Check manual for antitheft reset procedure. Some you have to put key in drivers door, other passenger , so I'd try unlocking vehicle with key at both doors.

It's all part of anti theft system. You may have to give a dealer a call to confirm proper procedure, but I believe in and around that year the procedure was to , Put key in drivers door and turn it counterclockwise to unlock door, then clockwise to lock it, then unlock again. Then try to start it. If that didn't work, I'd try disconnecting battery for a few seconds, then hook battery back up, then retry the key procedure again. Sometimes they are time sensitive as well, so try to do the unlock, lock, unlock quicker if first time doesn't do it. Good Luck, let me know how it goes.

How to disconnect anti theft

It is hard to give a definite answer because I don't know which and how many wires were damaged...Anti theft can be a real HEADACHE.....You can begin by disconnecting battery cables..Use your VIN number for parts,Get new ignition with a programmed factory key from dealer only.....They probably blew certain fuses and or relays when this happened...Or maybe not..Install new ignition connect battery cables..,turn switch on just to check for bad fuses and relays...Disconnect battery again...replace any fuses blown...Connect battery again...( Each time you disconnect battery it resets the computer system and should clear anti theft codes..)..make sure all doors are unlocked by using door remote key fob....Now see if vehicle will crank..If all is done correctly it should start...However I don't know how much damage was done.....It may possibly be too much work to totally disengage anti theft....You could start with removing all fuses and relays related to anti theft but disconnect battery before...I DO NOT RECOMMEND trying to disable the theft system.....You may create more headaches that you want.......Begin by trying what I described just to be safe...!!....

Factory Bose stereo cut off in my car. I was pulling the fuse out under the hood and when I would put it back in it would work. Know it won't work at all. I bought a new fuse thinking I blew a fuse bu

Some factory radios are designed to shut down if power is removed from them - like when they are stolen. This feature is the anti-theft device for the radio. Most seasoned thieves know it is going to be a hassle to get it turned back on again.

Contact your dealer's service manager and ask how to go about getting the radio turned back on again. Explain it exactly as you did here. You may have to pay to re-activate it - so be prepared.

Good luck!

ALARM AND RADIO

You need a install kit with an anti theft bypass since the alarm is tied into the factory stereo when it was removed you literally removed a circuit from the alarm but i would start by checking all fuses since occasionally the alarm will still function

I put a new battery in my villager and my radio won't work. Any ideas?

Hi.

If the radio turns on but does not operate (stays locked), then the anti theft kicked in. In that case you need to go to the nearest dealer to have the stereo unlocked.

If the radio is completely dead, then the fuse is gone. If radio is factory one, then there is one or two fuses in the in car fuse panel (they should be 15 amps if no amp is installed). Aftermarket units may also have a fuse located at the back of car radio. You will need to pull out the car stereo if that is the case.

Regards.

Ginko.

The battery died on my 2001 eclipse, now the radio only says ''off''?

This is the anti-theft device on your factory radio. When the battery died, the radio thought it had been removed from your car and went into anti-theft mode. When you turned the car back on, the radio should have read "CODE" on the display, at which point you need to enter the factory anti-theft code. After 3 failed attempts at entering the code, it will simply read "OFF" and the radio is locked.

At this point:
- find your factory anti-theft code - it should be in your owner's manual, or you can contact a dealer to retrieve it
- turn the key to the ACC position (radio and accessories on, but engine is off)
- turn on the radio so the display reads "OFF"
- let the car sit for 1 hour
- radio will turn off automatically and reset
- turn the radio on again, and it should read "CODE"
- enter the factory anti-theft code

Make sure you have the code before starting the procedure. To enter the code, use the radio preset buttons. For example, if your code is "4321", hit Preset #1 button four times, Preset #2 three times, Preset #3 two times, and Preset #4 one time. Then hit the "Tape" or "CD" button. Radio should now be unlocked.

Stereo not working

Your stereo may have a security code that needs to be entered whenever the radio is disconnecred from the battery. It's an anti-theft device that makes the radio worthless to theives (even though nobody would steal a factory radio but, I digress...).

Have a look through all of the documentation for your van, owners manual, any additional pamphelts, etc. There may be one for the radio that should contain the reset code.
