Question about Jeep Cherokee
When was your belt last replaced, and or tensioner checked? Not uncommon for an older belt to get hard (especially when cold) and slip a little and not be able to do it's job properly. A 1/2 mile drive, is just about far enough for it to get a little warmed up and will get a better grip. My guess is, that problem does not appear when you've been driving for any amount of time or distance?
