To install the sepentine belt in my 2005 equinox, what parts need to be taken off?

Some of the new Chevrolet needs to be taken apart. The front end will come apart fairly easy, but you may want to call a Chevy dealer or get a book from an auto parts store for $11.00

If the belt is tight, then it was probably routed around all the pulleys correctly.

you cannot repair the belt so you will have to get a new one draw a diagram of the belt positions and fit the new belt to that drawing.

The belt is your accessory drive belt, no different
than the older V-Belts of the last 120 years

Go to Gates or some belt mfg & educate yourself

Have no idea when a v belt left & a single flat belt
changed names, we lost the entire driving world
& now no one has heard of a serpentine belt

They have only been on vehicles for about 30 years

There is a youtube video that shows how to change the serpentine belt/tensioner/idler, but on my 2005, the tensioner looks OEM and doe snot have a squared off end to easily use a wrench to turn.

I think I have a sepentine tool (flat with square 3/8's drive) I can use to turn the tensioner.

at 60k, if it aint been done,do the lot.....filters oils.....antifreeze.....belts.....timing belt. then you have another 60k before you have another big bill.....

Any good auto parts store has a serp belt routing picture chart for each car

There should be a belt diagram sticker on the core support cover on top of your radiator showing you the routing of this belt

ok here we go first locate the drive belt tensioner, it should a h spot where you can insert a 1/2 drive breaker bar,release the tension and remove the belt, make you have the diagram that shows how it is insalled(usually on the sticker in the engine compartment) re-install the belt starting from the bottom and working up towards the top.again release the pressure on the tensioner and finish insalling the belt.make sure the beelt is all the way on every pulley. please rate my fix, if you need more help get back to me as i strive to be the best. good luck,let me know how you make out. should not be that hard to do
