Question about 1991 Dodge Ramcharger

1991 dodge ram 250 5.9 cummins diesel. Power steering not working. When the new pump is in the vehicle and take the pressure line off the back of the pump no fluid comes out. took out pump put it on the bench and tested with a cordless drill Clockwise rotation it will pump fluid. In counter clockwise position will not pump fluid. Any ideas?

We had the same thing happen. After jacking the front end of the truck up and cracking the supply and return lines at the steering box . Let idle for 2-3 min or until fluid starts to seep out of fittings. It appears that it was air locked some were. It seems like the steering is getting better as the air works its way out of the system. O don't for get to retighten the fittings again. Good luck.

Where is the oil pressure sensor on a 1992 dodge cummins?


It's mounted in the engine block under the injection pump on the driver side of the engine. It's right up against the power steering pump, above a motor mount.

The vacuum pump in the Dodge W150-350 Cummins Diesel is integral with the power steering pump on the driver's side of the engine. remove it as one unit from the accessory drive unit. Then you have to press the gear off the shaft to separate the power steering pump from the vacuum pump

2001 dodge 2500 diesel oil leak in front of power


The power steering pump is piggie backed to the vacuum pump. The seal in the back of the vacuum pump has engin oil under presure behind it cousing a leak that gets worse over time. Cummins make a seal kit to fix this leak.

to bleed the system fill the fuel filter then crack the inlet fule line turn over untill you get fuel then tightnline and start
