Removing the evaporator box

http://mechdb.com/index.php/Ford_Escort_evaporator_core_%26_blower_replacement
Ford Escort evaporator core & blower replacement
Removing the dashboard is not required in order to replace the evaporator core or the blower box.
Procedure
  1. Disconnect the A/C lines sticking out of the firewall beneath the hood. They are quick disconnect fittings and require a disconnection too that is fairly cheap and available at any auto parts store.
  2. Remove the 2 (7mm) screws holding the glove box in.
  3. Remove the glove box.
  4. Take out the 4 (7mm) screws in the plastic that is closest to the passengers door.
  5. Remove the 3 screws (10mm) that hold the metal brace in that was behind the plastic previous removed.
  6. Remove that metal bar going across the bottom of where the glove box used to be. That has 2 (10mm) screws holding it on.
  7. Remove the wire harnesses that are attached to the blower motor. Optional: remove passenger kick panel.
  8. Remove the 3 (10mm) nuts that are holding the blower box in place. 1 is in the middle of the passengers side firewall at the bottom of the box, the second is to the right of that one about a foot over and the 3rd is in the middle of the firewall right behind the cable that controls the outside/inside air.
  9. Now remove the vent that goes to the windshield.
  10. Look to the left of the box you are removing. Then yank out the evaporator until it comes out, it's strong enough to not worry about breaking anything during removal. Don't forget to unhook your a/c lines on the inside the engine bay prior to pulling the box out.
  11. Install the replacement core in reverse order.

My 1988 Ford Tempo's heater fan is not working. I can feel heat at the windshield vents, but the fan wont come on. I have jumped the fan speed switch with a paper clip--and blew a fuse--and checked the...

your circuit is simple--I will paste it below. suspect the blower has shorted and caused the switch to burn up. remove the blower and hotwire it to the battery to see if it works. If not, replace the blower. Then run continuity tests on the swoitch and replace switch if bad. If you have questions, please let me know. Here is procedure for taking blower out:

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION With Air Conditioning

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove compartment door and glove compartment by removing the retaining screws and bolts. Push the sides of the glove box in to free the drawer from dash panel.
  3. Loosen the instrument panel at the lower right hand of the glove compartment opening. This is on it necessary if the panel is in the way of the motor housing.
  4. Remove the retaining screws securing the ducting around the blower motor.
  5. Remove the clip securing the blower motor fan blade to the motor arm. Remove the fan blade from the motor.
  6. Remove the blower motor mounting plate from the evaporator case by unscrewing the retaining screws.
  7. Rotate the motor until the mounting plate clears the edge of the glove compartment opening and remove the motor.
  8. Remove the wire harness from the rear of the motor.
  9. Inspect the fan blade for broken edges or cracks. Replace if needed.

To install:
  1. Connect the wire harness to the rear of the blower motor.
  2. Install the motor into the case and secure with the retaining screws.
  3. Position and fasten the fan blade to the blower motor arm. Secure with the clip.
  4. Secure the blower motor outer housing to the duct assembly with the retaining screws.
  5. Install the instrument panel at the lower right hand side if removed earlier.
  6. Install the glove compartment door and glove compartment.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Run blower motors to make the motor works correctly.
Without Air Conditioning
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the right ventilator assembly.
  3. Remove the hub clamp spring from the blower wheel hub. Pull the blower wheel from the blower motor shaft.
  4. Remove the blower motor flange attaching screws located inside the blower housing.
  5. Pull the blower motor out from the blower housing (heater case) and disconnect the blower motor wires from the motor.

To install:
  1. Connect the wires to the blower motor and position the motor in the blower housing.
  2. Install the blower motor attaching screws.
  3. Position the blower wheel on the motor shaft and install the hub clamp spring.
  4. Install the air inlet duct assembly and the right ventilator assembly.
  5. Connect negative battery cab
  6. Check the system for proper operation.

Where is the blower motor resistor located on my 2006 ford f-150

This is behind the glove box, you need to open the glove box, and press in on one side to drop the glove box door down.
Once the glove box is open, you will be looking right at the blower motor resistor.

1992 ford tempo blower motor

If you look up behind glove box (it will come out if needed) you should see wires going into heater housing/duct, then out to blower motor. The connector there should be attached to a resistor that may have gone bad. I believe there is 2 small screws holding it in to housing.

Heater/ac fan will not come on at all. I can feel heat when i put my hand to the vent, but the blower/fan is not working. I checked the fuse and it is fine. What could be the problem?

Test the blower motor by jumping 12 volts to the blower motor connector, if it works you have a defective blower motor speed control resistor which is located just next to the blower motor, i recommend u replace both as the blower motor ages it draws more current and this causes the resistor fail, u should be able to buy these parts in the aftermarket, the dealer parts will be very expensive.

The blower motor is behind the glove box. Remove the glove box (3screws, 1 on the left side and 2on the bottom). Remove the glove box lower frame (4 screws). The blower motor assembly will be on the right hand side under the dash
