Question about 2002 Mini Cooper
Hit the door panel just above the lower door speaker. If possible remove the door panel trim to expose the door metal. This must be a firm blow and is better with a rubber mallet.
This works by moving the motor armature slightly away from the dead spot it creates when it moves up and down slightly when opening/closing the door. Best way to avoid this is to wind the window up and down fully every once in a while - excercise the motor.

Check to make sure the 3 plugs under each front seat, some time when moving the seats forward and backwards the airbag plugs and wires come loose. This happens alot with mini's. As for the windows, if you can hear or feel the motor running than the problem the the rack and pinion gear has broken the spot welds: this is very common with British cars "2002-2004 Land Rover Discovery 2, Mini's same years and Jaguars" Go figure they all us the same OEM suppliers in East Essex England. If you can't hear the motor running and the fuse is good then the problem will be the motor or the swath is faulty.Once the airbag problem is solved the airbag may not go out until you have a mini dealer reset it or you buy a code fault reset tool. My r window did same thing. It was only confused- read somewhere to hold window switch up for 10 seconds, in either key position 1 or 2. It worked. No bill, no nothing. The window is too smart for its own good, thinks it's down already or whatever. This fix worked twice so far. Nice.
