Most cars idle on starting, but mine cuts out several times before I get to work 10 km from home. Could this be bad fuel?

88' dakota v6 misses and sometimes quits running

Could be several reasons for this. Plz check fuel filter, air filter and general tune-up items ( I. E.) Spark plugs and wires, air cleaner etc.

Sounds like a weal fuel pump.Check your fuel pressure it should be 48-55 psi with key on and engine off.If its not not within these specs replace fuel pump.

Car was running down the road and suddenly quit. It turns over but does not start. Could the timing belt be broken? How do you check it?

quite possibly and if it is an interference engine then there's a highly likely chance that all your internals have collepsed and you will have to buy a new engine or have it rebuilt. on the accesory bracket right behind it should be a plastic inspection plate that has 1 bolt at the top holding it shut..

1991 Plymouth Acclaim stalls

One of the more common problems with the 2.5L & 2.2L engines that suffered the symptoms your describing, such as, starts & runs good, then at any given time would just quit, not start, but after sitting a while, or by the time the mechanic gets to it, it starts right up, or you sit on the side of the road for 20 min. or half hour then away it goes for a while longer, then quits again down the road. There is a pick-up plate under the distributor cap & rotor, with the wiring plug coming from it. 90% of the time, it's defective, and cuts out especially, but not limited to, more often when weather is hot.
