What can be done about a faulty brain box

Hi! Assuming the ECU is faulty there are some options for you!
1. The problem can be identified and repaired by someone who knows how to do so
2. Sometimes the previous option is more expensive than buying a new ECU to replace the faulty one. Even a used or refurbished one will do the job!

However, before deciding to replace the ECU you need to make sure that it is the ECU that is faulty! This can be easily verified by connecting it to a "computer" which will tell you if the ECU is faulty!

If you need more assistance please report back! Good luck!

If ecu can be reconditioned then any need of buying hybrid ecu again?

If you have someone that can truly fully recondition the ecu and check or certify it, then there is no need to buy a new one. This level of repair and required test apparatus would require a shop of substance, definitely not a "shade tree" task.

I have a 1996 eagle talon. I replaced the ECU and shortly after my transition went into limp mode. I'm not very car savy so if someone could please dumb down an answer for how to fix this I would be...

I have read that there may be some 'programming' (customization) necessary when you replace the Power Control Module in a Ford.

See what happens when you disconnect the battery overnight to reset the ECU. If it fails the same way, you may need dealer or part supplier support.

Ecu for a 1995 f150 but motor is 1993 302 5.0 manual transmission

Yes the ECU should not affect the systems different firing order. If you want the correct ECU go here to purchase one.

Changed ECU three times with rebuilt ECU continuing not to start when hooked up to diagnostic machine Says its the ECU all grounds and wires Were checked three diffrent mechanics HELP!!!!!!!!!

some wranglers have security and if the wrong ecu is used it will cause a no start.

So if someone is condeming the ecu, then what system is not working.

If a component has a short in it and it takes out the ecu then if the problem is not found then every ecu you hook up will fail as soon as you turn the key on.

Security problem

Can you please tell me what part was replaced on you ignition system.
If you have changed the ECU or the IGN key switch they need to be fitted in matched pairs as the key switch is match coded to the ECU
Unless you purchase a brand new one that will be blank but must be coded by the dealer or someone with the correct software.

Inside the key is a small chip that tells the ECU it is a match & lets the car start.
The mechanics of most key switchs can be replaced but you must put the chip from your old key into the newly fitted key.
Some cars like Mercedes have the key switch coded & the key so they talk to each other & they must also be coded to the ECU as well.
Nothings ever simple is it.
